I really don't need the 3dmax plugin, but I need  a floating licence for my 2 macs, so now i'm forced to premium?
This is really bad, the reasonable pricing was number1 argument for me using corona as a hobbyist.
Even Maxons Redshift would be much cheaper now.
Chaos really stands up for its name, thx for nothing.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Realistic Tire Material
« on: 2021-07-12, 18:04:34 »
Hi, I'm just curious:
Those tires you posted, are your rendered images, or is it a reference?
Because, if I had a tire looking like the first of your images, I would attach them to my car straigtaway :-)
The second one might be a litte glossy, but I wouldn't mind!

[C4D] Daily Builds / just curious: filesize
« on: 2021-06-10, 09:18:42 »
as my internet is quiet slow today,
I looked at the filesizes of the installer and I'm wondering:

Why is the mac .pkg 3 times the size of the windows exe?

ok now I ran Corona Benchmark on the MacMini 2018 i7 (this is not the i5 posted with cinebench),
see sceenshot

So its
i7
Time 02:41, Rays/sec: 3,007,360
vs
m1 (with rosetta x86 translation)
Time 03:34, Rays/sec: 2,266,370

I'm running Corona Renderer on Big Sur (Intel), works perfectly so far. I reinstalled Cinema to get the latest updated version, and I'm using official Corona 6 hot fix 1 from download page, no daily built or whatever.

I ran Cinebench R23 on my MacMini 2018 i5
System: Intel Core i5-8500B @ 3 GHz
Multi-Core: 5365
Single-Core: 1065

on M1 see screenshot

I wouldn't say mind-blowing, but for a computer with a mobile chip that stays total silent, and draws a total system power of about 30 Watts when running full speed, that's great.
Its enough for my C4d needs, but I really want to use Corona Renderer...

I didn't know Corona Benchmark does exist :-)
Just downloaded it, it runs in Rosetta mode, seems to have some issues with refreshing the viewport while rendering, but it works. See screenshot, I don't have any comparison to other Macs, will try tomorrow on an intel Mac mini.

Meanwhile I have my M1 Mac mini running, with newest R23 C4D installed.
Corona plugin doesn't load at all, there's no error message or anything.

Corona Image Editor runs perfect, which was expected, the intel apps are on the fly translated by "rosetta 2".

As the plugin is not an application, rosetta doesn't help here.

So dear corona coders - please do code :-)

Cheers!

O.K. so now that Apple released its M1 CPU/SOC, and Maxon released R23 in an ARM native version, I'm totally up for it and ordered a Mac mini to see where things go.
Would be really nice to have corona renderer too!

Great,
thank you very much

Hi corona-Team,

are you planning to support apple's switch to their own cpu-archictecture?

I'm just wondering how it will afffect the already bad 3D-situation on macs.
At least Maxon did confirm they will support Cinema4d on apple silcon asap.

> All Materials are made NATIVE for C4D by us, c4d users,  handmade with Corona v5 for Cinema4d:

On page 4 of your custom metal pdf preview, you suggest to use the curvature shader as a layer mask.
I would really like to do that in c4d, but there is none, or do I miss something?

[C4D] Feature Requests / Will there be a help system?
« on: 2018-10-05, 09:38:19 »
I'm totally new to corona, so I often would like to read a bit in depth  about  how things work.
Especially the node materials.

Maybe you know cycles4d from insydium, I used this a while but I don't like my GPU to act like an Antonov AN-22.

But, the help system of cycles4d is really outstanding great, its a combo of text+video, you can right-click nearly anything in cycles to go to that specific help section.
I would love to see something like that in corona :-)

Hi,
i don't kow much about subtances, and i'm totally new to corona.
I've got some substances which I downloaded for test-purposes when C4d introduced the pipeline.

Those are .sbsar files. How excactly can i open them in coronas node-editor? Drag'n drop doesn't work.
