You would never be able to do this with scatter in fact :- ). The reason is that the original piece from Arroway used physics simulation for the rocks to fall down only naturally to the ground, but also touch each other.
Scatter can't simulate anything it would just randomly place them, but randomness isn't the same, and intersection avoidance so they don't touch each other would barely work.

This is actually pretty cool !

Maybe 2023 is actually different:

A problem I noticed with R26 and CR is that not all materials convert well into the asset browser. Since I hhave a very fast ssd and Maxon changed the asset browser to be able to show assets without having to download them all I use the asset brower all the time. A huge time saver. Although Chaos Cosmos is great too it would be better if you could choose to have all Chaos assets available in the C4D asset browser.  Especially the feature to have personalised versions of assets is fantastic in the C4D asset browser.

I am beginning to notice that asset management is very important in Archviz projects. The amount of assets is just unbelievable and they come from dozens of resources. One of the main reasons for me to work with CR is that resources and assets are often provided in CR render format.

I'm in the same situation as you, I tried to copy the Corona folder to the C4d 2023 plugin folder but it doesn't work.
Out of curiosity I tried to open a scene made with R26 and the materials were all loaded instantly but I still can't say if it was fixed as Corona is not installed.

no, at the moment the clouds do not cover the sun. In this test the clouds are at an altitude of 500 meters so very low but the sun is always in front and is not covered.

c4d gets very slow when it misses or searches textures, in specially if you have many search paths.
using absolute texture paths helps in my experience

Hi Stefan, for example I use your metal material bundle and loaded it into the Cinema asset browser and I always have the material loading problem. the disks where they reside are SSD.
Can you give it a try to see if you have the same problem?

I confirm the problem is still there in the S26, I his many materials through the Cinema 4d asset browser and in previous versions it opens instantly (R25, S22) while in the R26 it struggles to load.

Decal textures for this rendering are from Substance Source: There are lots of useful decals over there.


I hadn't tried decals like this yet!
How did you get the dirt under? have you added an AO and multiplied on the diffuse channel?
I'm on 4D cinema :)

Hopefully someone else will join the party - playing with decals is seriously fun :] Here's another one from me - lazy house. Just a box with bricks material and windows decals scattered on top. I was pleasantly surprised to find that even AO works with decals (dirt leaks under windows).

Did a quick test with Arroway 3D gravel. Imported the gravel mesh as OBJ and made a corona material with the by Arroway supplied image maps. The UV's where already imported/placed with the Arroway meshes.

The attached render test where done on my MacBook Air m1 with 16Gb. Testrenders only a few minutes.
Amazing these 3D gravel meshes can now be used with Coronarender in such a simple way.

The test render is a Cinema4D landscape of 20x20 m with the 2x2m Arroway mesh tiled at 10 x 10 (U/V). Time to first pixel is actually very fast. But I had to switch the Pattern modifier of to have any kind of viewport speed. With the modifier on I couldn't zoom or pan at all.

Once you got your Cosmos assets you can make a library with edited models in the asset browser of C4D. I wasn't impressed with the asset browser before but now I have the databasesd on my local SSD its really super.

do you mean that you use a database via the new Cinema 4d Asset Browser?


is there any news on a possible implementation of Chaos Vantage?
