[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Re: Corona Camera Lister
« on: 2021-01-17, 08:40:51 »
Reviving this topic: do you guys know any camera lister script for 3ds max? I tried http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/camera-lister but keep getting cldata.dat error.

It seems to me, that no one wants to write or CAN write a camera lister.  There is a BIG demand for this, and I believe part of the reason may be because of the 3DS Max Physical Camera.

This has been asked for since 2014 for VRay and all the scripts on scriptspot no longer work (because of the newer 3DS Max PhysicalCamera).

Shame....

[Max] I need help! / Re: store and keep renders in History
« on: 2020-12-14, 20:06:32 »
That's great news.

But I've also learned that it seems only so many files will be stored during a session.

I don't know what the limit is, but it might be a hard disk size limit somewhere ?  I seem to only be able to store 2 or 3 of my images to the history, once I try to save a 4th image, one of those other 3 images gets removed.....

I've been using V-Ray for 10+ years, and I am loving Corona, it's lovely and not complex for beginners (like me) - but I have to say, that I'm very surprised by this side of the software.

I'd have expected anyone to have highlighted this limitation by now, especially as this software has been around for a good few years.

As I say, I'm loving Corona - not trying to slag it off, just help improve it :)

I'm new to Corona, and this is something that I'm surprised is not in the software.

I don't finish working my projects in one day - they are created over days and weeks.

Is this now possible (some way I'm not aware of) ?

Thanks.

[Max] I need help! / Re: [solved]Depth of field not working

Thanks everyone,

I find that I'm jumping from 2014 to 2017 (each time I try 2017, I find a reason to go back......).

Anyway, seems like the best way for me is to use the CoronaCameraMod and work from there.

:)

I'm new to Corona (as of Oct 2016), and I currently have some free time to explore and enjoy this wonderful new render engine I'm am really warming to (I've been using VRay for years).  3DS Max 2017, Corona 1.5.

For me though, DOF in Corona has taken a little head-scratching to understand and especially to ask myself why is it in several places ?

The rule I seem to have told myself thus far regarding Corona is that under Camera Tab of Render Setup - the DOF Enable doesn't seem to affect anything..... (right or wrong ? and if wrong, please can you explain).

So, with the vanilla version of 3ds Physical Camera ALONE, you can play with DOF as you wish.

But when you apply a CoronaCameraMod modifier you are able to OVERRIDE that Physical camera's settings - I guess so that you can have different Physical Cameras within your scene, each with different CoronaCameraModifiers (and DOF's).

PS - the Docs seem to be missing VITAL piece of info (on hover) for this very area in question as of 14/10/16 here - https://corona-renderer.com/doc/

Just draw a simple max plane primitive with no subdivisions and on the properties menu use the scale feature under render multipliers. Put something like 1000 or so. This way you can draw a 1mx1m plane but it will render huge.

Thanks man, I've drawn millions of planes and never noticed the Render Multipliers bit !

Wow :)

[Max] I need help! / HDRI in Corona (coming from Vray)
« on: 2016-10-13, 18:26:33 »
I'm very new to Corona, but am loving every second of it.

I've searched online for HDRI set ups in Corona and am getting conflicting suggestions.

If I use a VRayHDRI in either the environment slot or the Render Dialog slot for Corona, that seems to work best IMO BUT I get warning messages that Interactive Rendering is unreliable when using VRayHDRI.

So to avoid that Warning Message, I use the CoronaBitmap and put a HDR file into the slot, but then the background doesn't look right (i.e. it doesn't look the same as when using the above method, instead it appears distorted, no matter what Environment Mode I try.

Any ideas for the correct way of doing this please ?

Thanks.

I'm new to Corona (from VRay) and am wondering the same ?

Any movement on this ?

Thanks.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Which render farm do you use?
« on: 2015-10-21, 20:37:31 »
Rebus have changed the way I work.

For stills, a few clicks, superfast broadband has my projects uploaded and they hit my stills with 100nodes.

I have one machine and Rebus have made me question whether I need a home renderfarm at all.

PS - I don't do animations.
