Hi,

Hi, very nice lighting, beautiful renderings for me! I think the towel in picture 5 looks no good, material looks to hard and strong and perhaps the model is not good too! And the reflection in the mirror is too dark in some renders in my opinion!
Regards
-
About mirror, the clients asked me a dark, old mirror, with hole, rust. So, old mirror, usually, aren't so reflective. Like this (http://gallery.nen.gov.uk/assets/0511/0000/0051/useful_139_mid.jpg). About towel yes, you are right =) we have to think the towel in a different way. No time for this project. Maybe in the next )
-
This is true, old mirrors could reflect more dark than new ones, i think is a bit too much and then if so they reflect a bit blurry, but it is subjective! The are only some small details! Good work!
-
I'm not sure if you changed materials, lighting or post processing but I think golden elements look better on the old renders. Now it has slight plastic feeling, but still the whole interior looks great. :)
-
Maru, don't talk about gooooold!!! Clients make me crazy... It's just Photoshop post (Material ID pass). I didn't touch the Corona shader! He likes this. I sent him ten different versions. He wants a "smooth" mood, gentle, "not strong", not like "Dubai render" (he wrote me this exact words O__O ) That's all =)
Oh, yes, res: A3 300 DPI and 24-30 hours every render =) DOF in 3D cause mirrors
-
Real photo... He wanted this, but more saturated... It's not easy, cause every day he change idea...

Can you please use lower/uppercase and punctuation correctly? Such sentences are really hard to read :(
-
Amazing renders cecofuli really great materials and lighting ! i love also the camera angles
-
Thanks Chakib ^__^
-
greats renders Francesco, the only strange thing is the fifth render, the towel is like a car floor mat :) . btw amazing work
-
Ook, I'll see what I can do for the towel =)
-
Great job!
Yes, the towel is the weakest part :)
-
I´m still amazed by those images! The towel could indeed look smoother and the carpet still looks a little artificial and out of place. The gold-material looks ok for a faded look, I think.
Did you model the water in the basin, or is it a sim?
Best regards
Nupsi
-
Ok, new towel =) It's not perfect, but now it's better, I hope!
Water is cylinder with taper/noise/bend modifier. The water in the basin is a plane + noise + one wave space warp.

Can You tell ME How You render That Carpet With hair & fur
-
yes
-
high quality work!
Maybe gold material desaturation?
-
Much better now ! great displacement ;)
-
It isn't displacement ;-) Or, better, not only
-
This towel looks better but it looks as if it was made of concrete or very very rough. :)
-
This towel looks better but it looks as if it was made of concrete or very very rough. :)
this is how real men dry themselves :D

This towel looks better but it looks as if it was made of concrete or very very rough. :)
Those are just regular manly towels for tough Italian men... >:[
-
Ahaha =) No no... again, client chose this regular towel. I send to him some screenshot from different model (Evermotion) and this is his choice. I just rebuilt this model.

Just a little test for my next exterior project.
I will have to cover, with grass, a big area. So, I create this sample scene. DOF with Corona
(http://www.francescolegrenzi.com/Temp/Corona/0010_Erba_Scatter0075.jpg)
-
Looks great. Those 2 stones on right are disturbing imo :)
-
Yes, the stones on the right are a bit artificial but the grass and the flowers look very nice! yummy :)
-
Ohh, at the begin it was only a sample scene with 4 white spheres ( I needed a shadows) . My goal was to create good grass.
At the end, I remove the sphere and add the stones ^__^
-
very good interiors!
i like this color!
-
Wow! It's amazing

These renderings are impressive!

No comments required. ;)
Did you somehow manage to render clean dof on glass parts? What helped?
-
easy: 4000px + 20 hours (one I7 970) + resize to 2500px + Post denoise =)
After 10 hours, texture, AA, GI, glossy etc... was perfect. DOF in the 4th image (glass lamp) was very noisily =(
-
Amazing new renders cecofuli. Would really love to have some more info on that close-up of the towel, I can see there's a lot of details there and you said it's not only displacement. Did you also apply some hair & fur on it furthermore to you have some tips on displacement? Would love some insight ! Great work once again.
Cheers !
-
Small scatter object on towel mesh.
-
Great renders, my 2 suggestions are:
1) Make a white version of your watermarks to use for dark images
2) Find better clients than presumably some russian gangsters :D
-
Ahaha.. you are right! ;-)
-
Great Redners! Only Thing for me is the carpet! What Kind of should it be?
-
Moquette with big grain
-
i think it looks a little bit strange (in my opinion of course) but i can imagine that it can be difficult to get a perfect result by the shape for this material!
-
For one room, we had one/two days. For the big room, 3 days.
So, not so much details and some elements are repeated, like chairs, tables, textures etc...
But, the budget wasn't high, also we had a short deadlines.

On my website (http://www.francescolegrenzi.com), you can see more images, like high version, CAD projects, real photos and our hand drawings concept.
I hope you will find interesting.
Tomorrow, more renderings.

Ok, now that my I've picked my jaw back up from the ground....all I have to say is absolutely incredible!!!! These last few images were some of the best CGI I've ever seen. The attention to detail, lighting, materials...everything is so photographic.
How are you getting your white's so white and contrasted without everything being washed out? Do you use any novel tricks or do the Corona renders look quite similar to the final result? Your white balance appears to be spot on in nearly all shots without anything looking cold / grey - a problem I often have.
One more question if you wouldn't mind, are these HDRI lit or do you use Corona sun/sky? I'd be really grateful if you could share your lighting setup.
-
Hi, thanks agentdark45, but, this isn't nothing to special.
As I wrote, it's very fast project with low budget. So, the details are not so much, same for the attention of texture etc...
No special secret, believe me. Usually I try to avoid bright image directly in Corona (or in VRay); my rendering is a little bit dark.
And I correct it in Post. I save my raw rendering as a .png 16bit.
Next, I open PS and I play with curves, exposure, level, color balance. There are a lot of tutorial on youtube.
Light? CoronaSun+CoronaSky! No time to play with different HDRI etc... =)
This is a corona RAW file sample:

Oh I see, I might have to adopt your approach of rendering a slightly darker image from Corona and then exposing it in post - I've always tended to try and get the exposure right in the renderer in the past.
One last quick question about Corona sun & sky - do you manually lower the values of the Sun (I normally put mine around 0.03) and lower the intensity of the Corona Sky map. Or do you keep them at the default values and use Corona's exposure options to tweak the exposure? Not sure if this would make a difference in reality...but seeing as you have your set-up spot on it would get good to get some insight on this! Do you mess with the colour balance in Corona at all? I find that my white walls tend to come out either too blue or yellow - I can't get them to look as neutral as yours.
Thanks a lot for the help!
-
I would recommend not touching controls of sun/sky, and instead lowering exposure to about -5
-
I would recommend not touching controls of sun/sky, and instead lowering exposure to about -5
But the intention is to create different ratio between Sun:Sky, so one has to alter one or other. If I use sun, I also use it purely in much much weaker position, no need to simulate alpine strong light.
-
I would recommend not touching controls of sun/sky, and instead lowering exposure to about -5
I see, therefore I'd need to bump up my interior light intensities to compensate - would this be a more "physically correct" way of using Corona?
-
I did't touch, in these renderings, sun or sky. =)

Both will produce same results, but with exposure-change workflow you are ready for physical camera, and have lower chance of screwing something up, plus you do it entirely in postproduction and realtime
-
But if you are not using HDRI enviro light and for example want a "cloudy" lighting, then you have to change some parameters in sun/sky, right?

New set of images.

Dude pls stahp or I'm going to pay You a Visit and watch what you do on those machines 24/7 for a week and soak up the knowledge like a sponge :D
I mean it :D
-
I must admit your works are HARDLY distinguishable from photos. Each one of them is a masterpiece. Do you work alone or in a team?
-
Thanks so much maru =) Usually alone. Sometimes I have a freelance for the raw models.
-
its been barely 3 days since your last post of numerous renders and already you have posted another set of awesome images.... you probably dont work alone and pls what are your render times and computer specs? can you also share your materials on CML online? would gladly download your high-end materials :)
-
Obviously, I did these images in the last months. Not in two days ^___^
I cannot share the shaders, cause commercial textures inside.
But, believe me, they are so simple!!! Diffuse, spec and bump!
-
No one believes You anymore :D
Marvelous works.

How did you make those wooden elements? They look nice, good work.
-
If I remember correctly, I mixed different Arroway texture.
-
amazing..
with this kind of projects and such short time to build them. Do you use distributed render? backburner with stip rendering? batch rendering overnight??
and also....there will be a "Corona - The Complete Guide. 1st edition"?? xD hahaha ...
-
Batch rendering is enough.
About the book, never say never =)
-
Great images . Water gives it a new dimension of realism, I like it a lot.
Was it made in RealFlow or sometning similar (I mean water) ?
-
Mmm... This is a big secret, but I want to share with you my incredible workflow:
...
..
.
A flat plane with two Ripple Space warp and noise modifier.
A cylinder with two noise modifier ;-)
-
Francesco - your work is lovely - - i agree re; carpet and towel
the water in the basin is amazing - i can even see how thin a covering is in that basin -
in other business and i am sorry if this is a minor hijacking - what is the shader you used for the metal cladding
on this image on your website http://www.francescolegrenzi.com/Works/44_Pontresina/07_Giachem/Living_01_800.jpg
i try to get a material for KME / TECU florentine brass and this material would be perfect if i made it a touch darker.
Would you share your material settings ?
-
very nice project
-
Very easy: I used this bitmap
-
thank you
whils that is helpful i am gutted that it is not a procedural shader
Thanks again for your help - the material i am looking to emulate is

-
so what are your render times like for those, some of them are really clean (noise wise)
-
Hey, nice to see you again, Morbid =)
Usually I add some noise reduction in PS ( both in VRay and Corona).
But, believe me, for the same noise, with Corona I have 1/2 rendering time in most of situations.
And, finally, I don't have to struggle with sub-pixel mapping ^___^ . You knwo what I mean. Complex light situation is very easy to solve in Corona.
Situations where was impossible with VRay. And I worked 10 years with VRay!
I don't have to fight with subdivision, AA, complex mathematical formula. I reduce a lot the rendering time and, also, the rendering setup.
Yes, I have less tools, but for our office (arch-viz still images) Corona is production ready.
Well, which renderings time are you interested? I can post the version with no de-noise, in full resolution and the rendering time if you need.
IF you need honest and objective info about Corona vs VRay, tell me!
-
cecofuli +100500
-
Wow! Some really great renders here. Great work!
-
Thanks so much Jeff... I changed the renders with a better resolution ;-)
Some render are really one/two days work!
-
Very nice images Francesco
Your book "Corona - The Complete Guide" will be very wellcome :)
-
Fantastic imagery Francesco.
I'd expect the The Complete Guide for Corona to be quite a bit shorter than the Vray equivalent... in a good way ;)
Would love to see you make a commercial video tutorial series showing your entire process some day.
Cheers
Phil

Hi,
these rendering are for a fast project.
Bugdet: mid
Some tiling texture problem: architect gave us a photos of 10x10 real sample. He wanted exactly this texture.
It wasn't a finished project. He used our renderings for a meetings with his client.
So, many modification during the entire 3D project.
Also you can see some unfinished elements.
We did the best we could.
PS: I don't know why the movie is in the middle of the forum page

It's clearly visible it's not as detailed as some of your previous works and there are some weak points but, as always, I'm speechless. :)
-
Yes Maru, I agree 100% with you =)
-
always fantastic works...animation is not as lively as "I" was expecting(maybe its the music n style of editing)but its still great.( was it pt-Hd ? or Pt-Pt ? ), at what resolution and what are your render times per frame( just want to know how long it took to get the noise and fireflies out, convincingly)
Also, how do you achieve such burns from the sun and maintain yet an overall calm n warm feel in your renders?....do you increase the intensity of your sun above the default-1? or its an exposure control setting?
-
Animation was a request after the modeling/rendering.
In the main contract there isn't any animation in the programs.
So, we did it as fast as we could.
I wrote a thread about the problem in Corona on the noise pattern.
LINK (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,4838.msg33209.html#msg33209)
As you can see, the rooms are big, but the windows no.
So, in 720p, from 30 min (for rooms with big windows) to 1hour per frame (with I7 970 @ 3.9GHz six core)
And, we had to use some noise reduction.
If I knew about animation from the begin, I think I didn't use Corona in these project.
But in the new, Daily build, Ondra has work about the noise pattern problem =)
No secret, CoronaSun+Sky as default. Usually, I tend to have a bit darker RAW render and play with PS to obtain the exposure as I want.

Awesome work Francesco.
Looking forward to new work of yours.
Cheers

ooooo k..... im sure there's gonna be a making of? Too awesome!!!!
-
The details in the exterior shots is what makes it so real.
-
I think it isn't necessary a Making of. It's very easy scene, heavy, but easy ;-)
Unfortunately, this scene eats 23.6 GB RAM on my Workstation (22 GB on the nodes).
So, I cannot add more detail. Maybe just copy some objects.
I had some motorbike as proxy obviously), but I had to delete, because not enough RAM.
-
the atmosphere is quite different from a basic render we see everyday... it looks hazy sunny. whats your lighting setup like? or was it done in post? perhaps a raw render would help too. thanks
-
yagi, just CoronaSun+Sky + 6200K + 3D fog and 3D DOF. Play with Photoshop (Color Balance, Curve etc) nothing to special, really! =)
-
by 3d fog, do you mean volumetrics in corona?
-
Yes, exactly =)
-
Nothing special, just a new views.
