Shall it be possible to implement a direct .cxr save in the c4d picture viewer?

As said, Takes do retains the whole multipass renders in the c4d picture viewer which is not possible with the corona viewer.
Then it would be possible to save in those renders with the .cxr extension for further work in the c4d corona image editor.

Hi Houska,
I attach a free very simple test scene i took from the internet and tweaked a bit.
The scene is working and i created  rayswitcher mats which prove, rayswitcher and alpha are working (first attachement and not directly this thread). I also set up Lightselect multipass.

Using the corona image editor, i'm not abble to reproduce the transformation of final Multipass .exr file in .cxr I was talking previously, as i get an error message (cf second attachement): 'STOP@..\...' when opening the final result (.exr multipass) and trying to make a save (not 'save all') as i said below, choosing the .cxr extension .

I'm sure i did succeed in doing this two days ago, but as i also had the max image editor installed, i probably made a mistake and load the .exr file in this app. Not the c4d one. Now i'm not able to test the max editor, as it won't load (45 days free licence is expired for me).

Cheers,

OK, sorry,  my mistake.. I reproduced the render with a correct alpha map.
I did badly mapped it before this new attempt, and the alpha was not showing.

(Attached is a free sample scene, showing that this work)

ok, Houska, i managed to make it work:

1- opened the .exr in the image editor
2- used the saved all command to transform it as .cxr.
3- Reload the .cxr.

One remark: I noticed the ray switch material method works, but this kind of material does not recognise alpha (placed in the original mat).

Hi,

Is there a way to save .cxr via the render queue?
Using takes and dump exr option is working (*).
But if .cxr options could be implemented in the general tabs of c4d, for further post prod tweaks using the image editor, it shall be more convenient.

* Correction: As takes only works with c4d picture viewer, i don't think one can save a .cxr from the latter.
And dump exr option, will create a .exr not manageable in the corona image editor:  the passes are exported but as black passes.

Thanks a lot Houska. The method of the ray switch works great
Now i got another question regarding .Cxr, but i will create another subject.

Hello,

I have 3 questions :

1- How would you make the Sun active when placing a polygon backplate just outside a windows  room, for instance: I don't find the way to exclude this backplate so that the sun rays will hit the floor of the room.
The backplate occlude the effect of the sun.
Placing an alpha on it or moving it back can make the trick. But would i possible to make the sun effects goes through it, not having to change the initial position or puting an opacity mask?

2- This one have been probably discussed, but i cannot find a mention of it in your features thread or on the road map:
Do you plan to implement a fast material converter (standard c4d mats /vray/octane etc..). The external plug proposed is very good, in the extent that it does converts well materials but very slow at creating mats preview.
And this time issue can be problematic for large scenes conversions.

2-this is more a wish: Using the take system, which works very good, i noticed that when creating a new group take, the group tag function ('plus' icon) works for the 'texture' option/'display' option etc. which are not properly only c4d specific. On the other hand, the compositing option is c4d specific and it add a special 'take tag', but with the composting option of c4d.
Do you plan to implements those features (corona specific takes tag, and hence, corona compositing specific takes tag)?

Thanks in advance + congrats for everything you've done so far.

I second this. Either it would be good to implement a  function with the ability to quickly change/reassign  proxy files of a corona proxy generator.

So, yes you are right CineMike, this feature does not seems to be working right now (in the last dailybuild). Idem for the other available options (incl/excl list, etc..) and the 'render only masks' one which create a grey 'shading was disable' stamps render (On the other hand, id pass works, to get plain color masks).

Hi Cinemike,
I just installed the last dailybuild and saw the options. This is great! Now, as you,  i need to test it.

Thank you very much.

[C4D] Resolved Feature Requests / Render Active object
« on: 2017-04-15, 20:34:28 »
Hello everyone, corona team,

I wanted to know if it was possible to implement a 'Render Active Objects' function working in the c4D picture viewer or
corona vfb?

Right know the "Render Active object" from  c4d, works with corona but only in the viewport, if i'm not mistaken.

It also works in the c4d picture viewer, but only for the c4d standard and physical renderer (Render settings>options>active object only ticked).
Vray max has this implemented as 'Render mask'. And this would be very usefull.

Thanks a lot,
Cheers,

Nelaton
