Hello
Im not sure if this was posted before.

Objects from CAD that are imported in to max as "Body Object" that have the smoothing feature build in dont work properly.
Corona reads them as the lowest quality from "corase" You need to change those objects in to Edit Poly / Mest to make them work properly.

I udes SAT and STEP formats.

there was a similar problem before, but the scene started working with some new version. Can you post a scene where this happens?

It works in alpha too, just not as straightforward as in other renderers. In order to get better results, tweak a little bit Render Mesh Quality parameters under Rendering Approximation. Or you can simply check Use Viewport Mesh checkbox and renderer will use body object's Viewport Display settings.
Body objects implementation in A5 leaves a lot to be desired, but as Keymaster said, it's should be better in A6. We just have to wait and see.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

It turns out that your solution worked 100%, yet I never had to do this before in other renders.
Thats why I decided to post this anyway. So I dont think this will need anykind of fixing.
Sorry for a late reply.
