Hi,
I'm configuring a new ws I'll use with Corona.
I'm oriented on E5-1650V3 as CPU, my question is: instructions set of that CPU (AVX 2.0) is fully compatible with Corona?
Does anyone has got some experience with this CPU?

Maybe Corona team could prepare a short list of must for a good ws, please pleease please ;)

Thanks a lot,
Alessandro
My Ducati or a render with Corona.....mmm, hard question!

A 10 second copy paste Google gives you the Intel CPU details list. Gives you all info you need.
http://ark.intel.com/m/de/products/82765/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-1650-v3-15M-Cache-3_50-GHz#@product/specifications

Every Intel since forever supports avx anyways.

You can look the CPU up in this thread on how it performs, do a forum search for either it or a CPU equivalent or of the same family.
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=559.0

Nobody will make a list of that sort - especially not the devs. Too many entries, too fast evolving market, also devs should dev ;]

My personal opinion is don't go with xeons but with the core equivalents for better price to performance, but others on the forum will argue the exact opposite.

Also 1.4 update includes new benchmark with automatic table listing. End of may release.

Thanx for the info, actually I've already read almost everything about Intel CPU, the information I need is not his technical sheet, but what Corona needs (I mean the MUST) to work fine  ;)  (to be clear, for example I've got some old quad core that does not support SSE4 set, Corona told me when I try to install in that pc, so this is a must)

I've a doubt about this, maybe you can resolve my question: in this link
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-E5-1650-v3-vs-Intel-Xeon-E5-1650-v2
ther's a comparison between Xeon E5-1650 v3 and E5 1650 v2 , V3 seems to not support SSE4, is this a sub set of other supported set of instruction? (sorry, my hw knowledgment stop a little before this ;))

thx again,
Alessandro

This is the most basic stuff. Literally took me 15 secs to Google.
