@TeoRossi93 I remember my old post about the Velocity Pass not working, at least on the Mac. That was going to be my workaround for motion blur, but neither of them work.

I would suspect it's the Metaball Object. Corona works with so much of C4D, but funny things with Mograph Instances, the Background Object and I suspect Metaballs too. You didn't mention if the red sphere was also a Metaball. Is saving to Alembic a form of baking all the animation into the scene? If so, you should be able to scrub the timeline without weird things happening. Is the animation playing out as expected, with the Metaball effects, just without blur?

This is my biggest frustration that the C4D version of Corona is using the same version number as the more mature product for Max. This is where some of these expectation and frustrations come from. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Did you pull up the Texture Manager window to ensure the any textures the old scene used are still linked? Are you sure you didn't use the Convert Scene button? This will totally ruin any materials you had, especially any that use the Reflectance Channel.

Yeah, there is not reason you shouldn't be using version 6. It's still missing some features, but it is a proven stable release.

I was able to render to frame 25 with no crashes on C4D r20 on Mac. The only thing I changed with the number of passes down to 10 just to speed things up.

I would add that we don't know the size of the frames and how long the animation is? If it's a short animation and uses very large textures, then you're better off with a single machine since all the time to transfer all the assets to the second machine will eat up any speed gains. How fast if your network? The other thing I've found, and this isn't a Corona only thing, is if the scene is difficult to render and your second machine is much slower, then at some point the fast machine will finish and will sit idle until the slow machine finishes that final frame.

If you have any items that could benefit from baked cache files, that could also speed things up so the slow machine doesn't have to calculate, just load the cache files that the fast machine created.

I was the other Mac user that experienced this problem with the Sky Object, as well as the Background Object not working correctly. Since I'm using a shadow catcher to render my cars and their shadows into a backplate, my workaround only applies that scenario. I put a curved backdrop as my floor and up and out of camera view with the Shadow Catcher material. Large enough to give me a nice flat area for my objects and wide enough to encompass my camera. I also have a Composting Tag with everything disabled except Seen By Camera. So matter what direction I look at my objects, the backplate will fill the entire background and the shadows care composited as well. I guess the other issue is if the sides my "bowl" idea are too tall, it may block lighting and reflections from the HDRI setup, but since I'm just using this for setting up my objects, I haven't looked into that issue.

They they want Corona to compete with the other engines in the animation world, then everything with motion blur is important. You may be referencing my post about the Velocity Pass. The only reason I tried that method was because there were bugs with the regular motion blur under certain conditions. I believe in my case it was using Mograph and motion blur and objects that had a certain tag on them was causing some things to blur and other no blur. Plus, Mograph would randomly move objects around randomly and on random frames. I should dig up that project to see if v7 handles that any better.

Funny that is was only two years ago, maybe on the first release or even the Alpha version, and we are already at "version 7." I still think the version numbers are moving way too fast. We should be on a lower version number until it's on par with the Max version features, but I digress.

This is a great tutorial/explainer video and I recommend ever Corona user watch it. The instructor does a great job explaining everything clearly. We need more of these!

I don't know if my scene uploaded or not. It's 168 MB so it should work. It just sits there for a couple minutes, then the Captcha says I need to click the box again. Confusing. Would be nice to see a progress bar with the regular uploader.

The car looks good overall. Is the camera moving with the car to achieve the motion blur, or did you do that in Photoshop? My initial reaction is the motion blur is not in line with the motion of the car. I would expect the blur to follow the lines of the car and road. Make sense?

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Possible Glitch in v7 January 22 Build

I started using the latest daily build and noticed something wrong. I've setup a simple scene with a shadow catcher to use as an environment as I add Corona materials to my 3D cars. All of a sudden, the Sky Object is rendering when I've set it to NOT be seen by Camera. I know this because the Background Object no longer renders at all, thus revealing the HDR in the background. I'll be uploading a scene after I post this.

As you can see in my image here, the render in the top-right is correct. The image in the bottom-right is the exact same scene with no changes, but rendered with daily build January 22.

A simple workaround is I put a curved studio object (floor that curves up behind my objects) and applied my shadow catcher material. This renders as expected.

From the help files:

"Note: Mac's do not generate minidumps, only bugreports are created from Cinema 4D."
