Yup, i see.
Usual suspect, has something to do with shading & normals (on long thin polys).
Just do a vertical cut through the middle (ctrl+R) and observe ;)

PS
Creating NaNs (black pixels) influences denoiser also... thus makes them bigger, more pronounced.

BTW
There's no need to model beveled edges of the screen, leave them flat (use simple plane/4 vertices).
Edges on real products are usually hidden behind the frame ;)

Chaos Corona for Blender / Re: Blender To Corona bugs
« on: 2017-07-07, 15:44:34 »
Exploring the issue:
Corona's Camera Scale value seems incorrect, but is just different: e.g if Cycles Ortho Scale is is 10 then Corona's Scale is 5 - Views don't match yet resulting renders do?! Values are inter-connected but don't work correctly for the viewport (Corona VS Cycles Scale = 1 : 2).

Shifting Corona's Ortho Camera on X or Y has no influence/effect. Does nothing. Resulting image stays same as without Shift.
On Perspective Camera is OK.

IIRC there were issues with Corona's Ortho camera in the past. Am not sure.

PS
An alternative to bypass this is to use Perspective Camera in extreme Telephoto mode.

Set it further away (cc200m) then set extra high Focal Length (80,000,000.0 mm) and Sensor Width (8,000,000.0)

Note: there's still minutely visible perspective, to correct more go even further away and set Focal Length accordingly.
Also note that at some point precision will become a problem and will create other erroneous results.

eg. Perspective Camera (as described above)

[Max] I need help! / Re: Windows and Doors models?
« on: 2017-07-06, 17:50:32 »
Image references are common practice or is it too demanding to ask, search for? Look around @ 3dwarehouse, archibase.net, grabCAD, also every 3D store has some freebies available...

BTW. Can be done in couple of minutes.

What in particularly am i looking at?
Would you care to share a scene example?

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Color Bleeding
« on: 2017-07-05, 19:40:37 »
Quick guess from looking at the reference.
There seems to be hidden emitter where the player is. Check the door frames, handles & floor cornices (nearby polys facing the player) and how abruptly color bleeding ends with the distance from the player.
?

Yup, less than 1cm (0.01) :D
Keep in mind that 1 BU (Blender Unit) is equal to 1m and you'll be fine.

ps
IES is fixed :)

Hi & thanks for the compliment on the pleasing image :D
sincerely i can't see what others see in it, but as it brings cash and makes others happy i accept it as such.
It's just an example from Cycles used in commercial work. Simple bump map ;) and a good lighting did the trick for the designer's eye.
For me it's merely model-texture-composite & painting with light & shadow, finding the balance between time, client's wishes and my ego. Which is hard to satisfy, for it 'everything sucks!' Why i also don't show my works.

About Corona SA... would like to use it more, even commercially, but in state it is now, for me is not efficient... also has couple of showstoppers preventing bugfree production. So i help testing, providing feedback to the single volunteer developer when i can. Without motivational perseverance that blanchg (Glen) shows and hope that Joel gave when he started, this would be just lying dead.

Was also thinking about project based written tutorial... but too many times i hit the wall or some hurdle. Which i hate, as am not a competitor, but a visitor who wants to enjoy and share.  The above image is part of the scene i wanted (already started) to translate & share the process of... from old house photos (elders moved on) through envisioning a bright future for the young family moving in. ;)

BTW
I also have a Maxwell3 license, worked with VRay most of the time, but clients have changed. They demand more complexity (realism), have less time and are getting worse at communication, constructing, providing their vision. So it's basically Cycles (fast iterations) to the rescue.

Finally, it's getting hard to give life to something that starts sucking & draining it out. Like a stale water. Unless it's always flowing, it stays fresh, otherwise (stale) becomes poisoning as bacteria/bugs take over.

1193
Yes, i know, IIRC... version must be bought & licensed.
Still not an Autodesk's 3DS Max client. Tried once in 2004, left for good. Nevermind then ;)

For what I do to get by Blender/Cycles is just fine & dandy.
ie. Cycles 15min @ original2K on GPU

Am here more for a good spirit & in hope to help the Corona-Blender community. If things go well with it, i might subscribe.

Hi, Ondra!

Please, would you kindly update Corona Stand Alone build that is used for Corona Blender bridge?

Since the latest released from 2017-01-17 has few noticeable blockers (with IES lights, terminator/shading artifacts...) preventing more intricate testing and work on development. Although hobbyistic, it means very much to me (probably to few others as well).

Also Blender 2.79 (Release Notes & Test Build avilable) is on the way, opening a window to ride the wave.

TIA
and for everything ever since
:)

:) Was just wondering similar.
How can one use chanels, alphas, layers... from texture formats as png, tif, exr? Is this supported?

[C4D] Resolved Feature Requests / Re: Perspective Correction
« on: 2017-06-27, 12:20:24 »
Ahhh, tilt lens is another story. Should state that in the first place. Must admit i had never heard of an engine doing tilt lens effect (deforming a focal plane). Usually is faked in PS or other image editing app.
Also, from reading here, max shift implementation seems wrong?

Still confused...

Yes, tilt is in the Camera Object... i get confused by newbie questions, tooo much advanced stuff operating in my mind.
Learn & know C4D well before making such requests for features already in use for a decade now... :D

:) maybe i misunderstand

cinema's Camera Object (Object Properties: F.Length, SensorSize...), camera calibration & lens distortion tools are not enough? Doesn't work with Corona?

any example?

Confirming above... 'Cast Shadows' doesn't work.
Disabling 'Seen by GI' only, in any case disables shadows.

Yup... an old bug, already reported: ID#2226 Turning off shadows... not working
