[Max] I need help! / Backburner and Forest Pack Problems

Hey Guys,

 Searched around but couldn't find a solution. I'm using Forest Pack to scatter some grass and trees in a scene. When rendering over the network, I get random frames that won't render any forest objects. The machine's will render fine, then render a few frames without forest, then start rendering fine again. I get no errors, and I haven't been able to figure out a solution. Anybody else have this problem?

Hey Guys,

I've searched around for an answer to this, but haven't found a solution.

What I'm trying to do is render the a zdepth pass embedded into my .exr that is NOT filtered. Currently, whether I check "Enable Filtering" or not, the zdepth pass renders filtered, or with AA.

I noticed the new option under the Scene tab, "Render only Elements." There you can uncheck "With AA." That works great, but then I have to render the zdepth pass separately.

So like I said earlier, does anyone know of a way to render the zdepth pass, with the beauty render, but without AA/Filtering?

My main concern is the render node amount. Our company is on a full Mental Ray workflow. Like others have said, as long as it ships with max, Corona might just have to be a dream. We have a smallish medium sized farm and getting enough corona licenses to fill is just not cost effective enough when we already have MR included. Hope to see a more affordable node system in the future!

Have you tried right clicking your assets in asset tracking and clicking "Resolve Path to UNC Location." Also try changing the synchronization interval from 60 seconds to something like 5 seconds. These two things worked for me. Hope it helps!

I'm also having this problem. Anybody find a fix besides the camera output for this?

I believe I've fixed my problem! There seems to have been two issues.

First was resolving the HDR map path to the UNC Location (Asset Tracking). Second had to do with the startup of DRServer. I had it running as a scheduled task at log in. I had it set to run under all admins, but changing that to run as the correct User seems to have fixed the issue. Working great so far!

Thanks for the reply! I have tried this, same problem.

What I'm discovering currently, is if I enable the DEBUG{retain EXRS] option and then open them in Photoshop, they are completely black. So my issue does seem to be the slaves are not seeing the Environment map and are rendering black. I've tried using a network location that all slaves can see, and also putting the map in the drData folder. Any other ideas? Thanks!

I am still having a similar problem. When I use an HDR in the environment slot with Distributed rendering, I either get these strips like this or everything is equal but the exposure/gamma is gradually gets darker and darker... Any help?
