so I guess this is possible with absorption? The steps get more blue as they go deeper... replicable effect?

Sure. Absorption only. The caustics would be a bit more tricky in Corona. ;)

I am bumping this up again because I need to do something similar. Do you think corona would be able to render something like the attach file? I know it's done with photoshop but in my case , I wil l need to do it in 3D.
