Hi there,

I tried out the fast caustics solver and i love the results.

Unfortunately, due to my incompetency, I don't get why they are not visible in my Photoshop file ( see attached image ).

I saved the file as a 16bit PNG with Alpha Channel

When i save it out as an EXR, the caustics are visible, but there is no Alpha channel.

I also tried "caustics only in caustics pass" but i didn't see further options when saving the file, nor a "caustics only" pass in the picture viewer

Thanks!
Andrej

If would be helpful to see your layers in Photoshop. My guess is that you'd need to use Multipass. This will most likely give you a black image with your Caustics, which you then use a certain layer mode to composite it. Something like Screen or Add.

In your example, seems like that would be tricky since you have a transparent background, with a show and your caustics are transparent as well. Looks like you have reflections mixed with your caustics too.

In my test, I was able to get Caustics on its own layer, but there were still some caustics on the floor in this scene. Maybe some extra alphas to remove the floor. Not sure I know the best way to do this with PSDs or PNGs that is.

Hi Andrej,

It might be best if you sent us your scene file to have a look. It just might be a simple workflow issue here. If you can send it to us and then let us know the file name, that would be great. Our uploader is private and only our staff can access it. https://corona-renderer.com/upload
