Title: Kawana Waters Residence.
Post by: SO-ON on 2016-09-13, 06:16:38
     Hi Guys,

We've just finished a new set of images for a great residence to be built in Kawana Waters on Queensland's Sunshine Coast - Australia. We look forward to watching this one take shape over the coming months.
Thanks and comments are more than welcome :)

Nice mood, very relaxing :)
The depth of field is a bit overdone though imho.

I'm curious about the grass. Is it full 3d or displacement mixed with 3d models ?

Thanks Bluebox,

We were happy with the lighting/mood also. The DOF effect of the backplate is a result of less than perfect photography unfortunately. Ideally, it would not be as pronounced as you mentioned.

The grass is full 3D using a mix of certain species using forest for the main cover. We have added another forest object of dead leaves and sticks and some weeds onto this for extra detail/imperfections.

id work on the stone wall. its a little flat, stones needs more displacement , however everything is great..good job!

I also enjoyed this soft, warm light. It's amazing! The whole scene looks so realistic...

Too bad the background photo is so blurry. It still looks ok when un-zoomed though.

I wonder if using denoiser (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/solution/articles/12000004976-what-is-denoising-) or highlight clamping (https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000006462) would help get rid of those pesky fireflies.

Thanks guys, we appreciate the feedback. This was a commercial project with the usual deadline limitations so there are a few areas that we would look at a little more closely when we have some free time again.

Answering a few specifics though. Yagi - This scene is lit purely with an HDRI (Viz Park Vol 2 number 11 + a colour correction modifier to assist in colour balance). Maru - we are using denoising but nothing in the way of highlight clamping outside of our settings for the intensity of the HDRI (0.02 in this case + the usual exposure/highlightcomp and so on inside the frame buffer/render settings).

Cheers

is the lawn via quixel megascans? seems that is an simple plan with displacement?

Hi GabaCGStudio, the grass is all 3D models of blade varieties and some leaves and sticks using a couple of forest scatter areas. We've not tried megascans in a project yet but they look really good!

I really loved your renders, looks realistic from lighting, details, and vegetation too especially the frangipani :-). Is this the one from Archmodels or you custo made it by Growfx? thanks
