hi,

i was wondering, is it possible to speed up displacement workflow, for example on baking it in?

you work on scene, where you have to see displacement behavior with light and objects so it has to be on every single tweak, but it is nonsense to wait for these long chokes on "building scene", as it is slow if you happen to render it on pretty high res.

when i am satisfied with displacement look on floor i would like to somehow keep it that way, so it doesnt have to recalculate on every single preview as i am doing them like 5 times a minute. i was seeing this scenario - on displacement hold calculation time on particular scene is about 15seconds, when without - about 3seconds. thats a LOT!


i have seen on octane (example) somehow displacement doesnt have to calculate on every tweak with long in-betweens, it manages to somehow hold it on and still showing realtime result.

any ideas? future integrations?

i was just terrified as i saw in your link that corona is gonna implement node based material editing.. i find classic system much more reliable and easier to work with. if so, would it be possible to add node based editing without removing classic workflow?

hi,

i think this is one of the most important as its really makes impact on final view you are achieving. viewport rendering most of the time dont tell the whole story if you are rendering in high-res.

is it possible to render final output region? as far as i now, only method works when in viewport you use interactive render region -> wait for a feedback -> and then in render settings you tap Copy from IRR in Render region tab. really slow workflow, as you have to wait long time on huge scenes with 15+ million polyies even when interative render region quality at lowest..

i have seen in VBF render region option, no luck with that as it lacks explanation how it works. tried by myself with no success, feels buggy

hello,

i made a small project to test out LightMix and Post, really love it so far. its crashing so often, its almost impossible to do so, though. took me 4 crashes after render complete with extra 4 4k renderings.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Crash during VBF saving

cinema 4d r18, a6 rc3

i set automatically to save exr and multipass when i stop VBF rendering. when i stop it - c4d crashes with casual bug report stuff, it manages to save outputs though. its sad, as i want to make my post process directly in c4d and corona with glares and flares and lightmix especially, and now - 4 hours of rendering for nothing.

is it possible to reload exr output in coronas VBF after crash afterwards to make these adjustments? is it suggested to do adjustments during render process (its painfully slow, though)?

edit: looks like this error bug crash occurs on  average +-4k renders. i managed to render small version and saves out just fine, with possibility to keep going with direct coronas post

hi,

has anybody tried making big terrain for ach viz using megascans by quixel? can anybody clear up, how its being doen inbetween, as they provide really high quality assets.. or is it just useful for small closeups with small areas?

good morning,

i am working on project which contains environment studies.. landscape is about 400x400meters approx.
as i want to make some custom-painted made highres textures to have great detail in render, it just costs too much memory.
do these artists really make 20000 x 20000px textures, or it is simply a illusion making high res only for visible part in camera?

here are examples of landscape i am aiming for.. looks really natural, no repetition, no low res and it seems that this material applies to area even far away, or is it faked with bump further away?. as i read tonns of making-ofs, noone seems to explain this part.


how do artists achieve this look? any suggestions to paint it up naturally in PS, or is it just sculpted geometry applied with random noise displacement and with seamless ground texture? any tips appreciated, really want to figure this up

good morning,

first of all - thanks for your blog, Juraj, as i managed to build for myself as well. awesome machine and corresponding CB score of 2026cb.

motherboard: Asrock EP2C602-4L/D16 (great mobo for great deal 400euros)

for now, i am using it with my previous ram sticks (corsair vengeance ddr3 32gb kit of 4, 1866mhz) which seems really unstable and gives me blue screens randomly. i can assure, these sticks are healthy, but lacks compability for motherboard used.

i am looking for cheapest deal on europes ebay with atleast 64gb ram. as i read, Juraj Talcik got deal of 64gb for 80euros. i was wondering, how is it even possible as what i have found costs for about 300euros containing 64gb of server dedicated ram..

i would really use some help finding cheapest sticks... can anybody take a look and give some samples?

seems like multipass option is not working at all..
blank tab, even though i am adding passes.

when i press "Add all", it shows only these passes shown below

read through all the posts, havent seen anyone talking about it. again, dont recall this behaviour before.

edit: i have missed something in the new MP system.. found it under corona tab in main view.
