Hi all!
I'm new with corona, i started a course 2 weeks ago.
I'm trying to render chrome metal with reflections, using an hdri.
I can't get realistic reflections, look at the first attachment: i get thos two marks and no reflections in all the rest of the body. The scene is composed by a background and a floor, both have a simple white coloured corona material.
The object has a chrome metal material coming from corona material library.
The render should look as the second attachment, but i don't know how to obtain it.
Probably is a matter of reflections with the bottom plane, maybe is there a way to exclude an object from reflections?
I'd really appreciate if someone could help me :)

Does indeed look like reflections from the plane - an object will always reflect other objects in the scene, and only show the background/environment HDRI when no actual object is hit to reflect.

If you need to fake things, for some reason, then you can apply a rayswitch material to the plane, and for the reflections slot, drop in a material that is 100% transparent (so that when reflected, the plane will return a transparent material and show the background env). My first question is, why do you need that plane in the first place? Also, wouldn't it be easier to add a Corona Compositing tag and turn OFF the Seen by Camera and Seen by Reflections? Does the same thing right? I have never used the Rayswitch feature and not sure what the advantage of it would be.

F.e. if you got a lot of unwanted color bleeding (let's say a red carpet), you could use the rayswitch feature to cirumvent the effect (grey carpet version for diffuse).

Hi there, an understanding of how photographers shoot products can go a long way. Some will bounce light off boards or use black cards to break up reflections. Here's an example from Google:


Using a similar method in the form of an HDRI studio setup, the result you are after can be achieved. :)
