Team Render: Connect M1 studio with iMac
Hallo
Do any of you have experience, can you start a team render by connecting an iMac ((Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020; 3.6 GHz 10-Core) to an M1 Studio?
Thanks for your reply,
Best,
Katharina

So long as C4D and Corona are installed, you should be able to Team Render to any machine (I would imagine even a regular PC could be called upon in a Team Render set up alongside any type of Mac). Comes down to the software installation rather than the hardware :)

Re: Team Render: Connect M1 studio with iMac
Hello,
Now I have a question after all: the M1 I could actually connect as render support to my iMac. For my project I have a hard drive with all the textures attached to my imac which also has the project on it.
When starting the team render process I now got the error message that individual assets could not be found....
So far I had 0 texture problems when my iMac rendered the project alone.
The tram-render process was then terminated.
Now my question: does the M1 also need a connected harddisk with all textures to the project? Or is there a way that it gets them from the imac... or does that slow down the render speed?

I could fix all missing assets but sadly it still does not work. I attached the error message I receive - does someone know how to solve that?

Perhaps try using the ''save project with assets'' option before sending off to render. This should ensure all textures are linked to the scene.

How is your Mac studio “attached”? While WIFI might work, make sure to use a wired lan setup.
Did you do what the error message asked? Look at the TR console on the Mac studio to get an idea what went wrong.
It might be a licensing issue on the Mac studio…

Do you have any Corona render node licences? You'll need at least one in addition to your main workstation license.

Ah ok.
Currently I have a proper license for c4d and Corona - I use these on my iMac. For M1 I use currently trial licenses. You know, if I want to use team render, I definitely need two full licenses of c4D and Corona, therefore for each computer?

Re: Team Render: Connect M1 studio with iMac
You don't need a full license for something that will just be a render node, you need a Render Node license :)
https://corona-renderer.com/prices-licensing/render-nodes
This doesn't cost as much as a full license, as it doesn't allow opening the host and using Corona in full, it just allows the machine to render.
EDIT: And for C4D, you won't need a second license (again, you won't be able to open C4D on that render node machine, but you can use it to render - just install C4D on there with the team render stuff, and never open it as a full program)

But unlike Corona, C4D allows for unlimited render nodes. Which I miss.
