Hello,

I encounter the following problem. I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss. Fact is that I'm using the lates Daily Build (RC1) on Cinema 4D 2023.2.1:

I have a not too complex model of a filter tissue. I have a corona layered material on it (consisting of 2 ohysical materials of which one uses displacement).
The displacement isn't too complex but when I hit render it takes about 10-20 minutes to calculate the displacement.
Now I need to render an output of 5000 x 5000 px. When I do that after calulating the displacement insteda of rendering the whole model, only the two caps are rendered. I show that on the two attached screenshots. Only when I lower the output resolution (I went up to 4800 x 4800 px)the whole thing is rendered right.

Now I'm not sure if this is connected to my system. The specs are:
Win 10 Pro, 64 Bit
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X 64-Core, 2,9 GHz
256 GB RAM
NVIDIA RTX A6000

I Would be thankful if you could give me a hint.

Regards

Börje

Howdy!

Seems like an odd issue, for starters I'd try tweaking the displacement quality - set it to higher or lower than the default of 2px. Can you check if that makes a difference for you please?

Also do remember that screen size displacement is reliant on the rendered resolution. It does save you system memory and parsing times when doing low res rendering but compared to world size it might look a bit less consistent when you have such a drastic difference between the preview and final render resolutions.

Thanks for your response.

I will try tweaking the displacement value. I will only be able to do so later as I'm rendering a differnet model on that machine and that is going to take some more hours.

I will let you know if that helped.

Is the second image IR or a final render? Any chance you can share the scene with us also? Is the displacement creating the filter shape or is it geometry? If it's displacement, maybe the cogwheel object could be an alternative?

It's both final render. I just stopped rendering after seeing what it rendered.
The filter shape is geometry. The displacment concerns only the surface of the filter.
Sure I can share the scene file with you. But I cannot do it on a public download. Is it possible to share it through a PN or something?

Hi,

I just found the uploader. I have uploaded the scene file to you.

Thanks for checking.

Okay. I tried different settings for the displacement quality.
When setting to 3 the model renders even in 5000 x 5000 px.

But when I set it to 1px I get the following error shown:
"Unable to process displacement of the objects(s) Extrudieren.1 due to extreme number of generated vertices."

I don't remeber having seen this error with the prior setting of 2 px, when I tried to render before…

I think this is a combination of a low displacement px size vs a high resolution image which results in high RAM usage and therefore, the image is not being rendered correctly. Perhaps this guide will help you in determining what works best for you?
