Title: UVW randomizer
Post by: Daniel Mikolajčák on 2019-12-10, 13:09:53
I wish there was a good documentation on UVW randomizer. I did not work for me at all and along with cloner it crashed cinema 4d all the time.

Hi, can you send us the crash report? https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000033461-how-to-report-issues-c4d

Hello Beanzvision,

I cannot reproduce the crash unfortunately anymore. Still I cannot get the uv randomizer to run in any way. Also would it make sense to make it work from within a tag and not a shader. You need to have randomizer shaders for each material input (Diffuse, reflection, etc.) don't you?

Hi there,  Can you supply us with a test scene with how you have it set up? I am sure there's a reason why it isn't working for you.

I have just uploaded the simple sample file. I wonder what I am doing wrong, I could use it though for creating stone tiles.

Thanks in meanwhile.

Hi Daniel, thanks for uploading. What's the file called? I can not see it in there.

Hi, I used dropbox after all. The zip file is called uv random.zip

I have had a quick look at your scene. I also couldn't get it to work. I created a new scene, a new material using the existing texture you supplied and now it is working as it should. Very strange. Can you try the same and let us know?

Heureka!
I got to work it too! The problem was I was using corona bitmap, It seems to work only with default cinema Bitmap shader. Hope this would give you some hints.

Hello guys,
any news on UVW buggy behaviour? Let's kill those bugs in 2020.

Hi, Not as yet. Your workaround, for now, would be to avoid using a Corona bitmap and replace it with a C4D one instead. I just did a quick test and can confirm it works. I hope that helps for now

Hello,
workaround is o.k. It has by accident let me to discover other bugginess. Cinema bitmat displays wrongly material in interactive rendering. After interactive rendering refresh appearance of materials changes.

Hi, I falled into another problem while using uvw randomizer. I'm using it in an animation and it looks like the pattern is changing. Maybe the seed is interacting with other event in the scene, it's a bit strange. Is there a way to ''bake'' the UVW randomizer. Ty.

here's a sequence that shows it.

To best see what's really happening we would ideally need the scene file if you can share it with our private uploader? If so, please use "save project with assets" from Cinema to ensure all the textures are linked to the file. For peace of mind, only the staff has access to this uploader. https://corona-renderer.com/upload

I reported the changing patterns in UV randomizer already months ago.

At me it happens every time you add or erase an object or you make an object invisible in the scene.

Hi,
I found a solution to my problem, uvw randomizer and c4d variation shader shares this same problem :
those two shader are affected by objects appearing and disappearing that are on top in the object manager list (including particles).
if you place object with visibility that goes on and off at the end of the list you're fine.
It's not the best solution... hope someone fix this issue.

found my awnser in this post : https://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/forums/topic/92435-r17-new-variation-shader-changes-colour-randomly-bug/ (https://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/forums/topic/92435-r17-new-variation-shader-changes-colour-randomly-bug/)
