Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: PROH on 2015-06-01, 13:17:22

Hi. Can't make the camera render a full 360 panorama. But it doesn't render a full sphere, there seems to be missing a bit of the 360. Here's what I've done:
1) Created a free-camera (max-standard), and set lens to 35mm. The camera has no rotation on X & Y, but is rotated -45 degree on Z (to make the startup view correct).
2) Applied a CornonaCameraMod to this camera, and activated (checked) "Override: Spherical" in Projection Type. Nothing else changed.
3) Set renderoutput size to 1600 x 800 for testing purpose.
Any ideas what's wrong or missing?
BTW - Using Corona v1.00.02 and PanoramaExporter v0.3

First of all...
1) don't change the tilt angle! You are not changing the "initial startup view", you're changing the axis of rotation!
2) that's fine
3) also fine
So, it should work the way you did it.
If you could post an image we may be more helpful ;)

Hi DeadClown. The Z-rotation is in World-coordinates, so its not the tilt angle (?). I've attached the test image, so you can see whats wrong. I'll try to set Z rotation to 0, and check again if there should be something wrong with my spherical HDRi.
Really would like to make this work :)

He said he changed Z axis. It's not a mistake, right? (right??)

Are you sure CamMod is set to spherical and not a cylindrical mode?

Whoops, my bad! Yes, sure, Z is correct ;)

Hi. So I checked the HDRi - nothing wrong. I set Z rotation to 0 (world coordinates) - nothing changed. Checked (again) if CoronaCameraMod was set to Spherical - yes it is!
So in the next test I made a spline-sphere centered around the camera (Blue lines are 0, 90, 180 and 270 degree, and red lines are 45, 135, 225 and 315 degree). As you can see in the attached render, there's clearly missing a bit of the panorama - about 60-70 degrees.
Any ideas?

Can you try this with newly created camera? Maybe yours was scaled or has some correction applied?
-
Just did. Nothing changed. Still no full 360.
I'm using 3dsMaxDesign2014 with all SP's - any known issue regarding that?
-
Mine's exactly the same 2014 design sp5 and works just fine. Just tested it in latest build.
Does this behaviour happens in fresh scene? Maybe something is corrupted in your current scene?
-
Tried restarting max, and fresh scene without any changes. But I might have found something: Tried to render both Spherical and Cylindrical and both are giving identical result. Not just regarding "cutting of", but exactly the same result.
I'm not using daily builds, so is this a bug in v1.00.02? Or should I try to uninstall and reinstall Corona?
Edit: I attached the scene, so anyone (romullus?) with 2014 can try to see if they get identical result - or maybe someone can see what's I've been doing wrong :)

OK. Restarted once again. Started fresh file once again. ANNNNND...... IT WORKS!
Everything is done exactly as before, but somehow it works now. Might be a weak point somewhere?
Thank you all for your help :)

Any chance this was a file created with an older version of Corona?
-
Yes, the first file I believe was created in an older version, but the second one was not - so number 2 should have worked?
Anyhow, after both a max restart and a new fresh file, at least the last one (third) works :)
BTW - Thanks for moving this thread.
