[Max] General Discussion / Re: More ram used in 1.7 RC9

I believe the largest optimization of memory in 1.7 was for render elements, which need 25 to 75% less memory.

In case the original poster didn't get what the answer was :) See the helpdesk at https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000023596-what-multi-pass-channels-are-available- - this shows how to set up multipass, and the second image down shows how to render just the multipass and not the beauty render. No need to edit or change your scene to delete lights or materials, the checkbox there will take care of that for you and generate only geometry, mask, passes. Hope this helps!

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Light Mix Units and Denoising

It's the ">Scene" button :)

For the original poster, you can read information on LightMix over at https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000017218-how-to-use-interactive-lightmix- which covers both the question of why it is noisy if you raise the light values too much, and where to find the >Scene and other buttons.

I can confirm this is happening here - but only specifically if the view being rendered is looking through a Corona Camera (Perspective, Std and Phys Cameras did not show this effect).

Could you send along the crash report file, that would most likely be helpful :)

Could be related to the other reports that whenever the camera is hidden, the tilt and shift stops having an effect - my guess is that isolating objects also hides the camera (unless you include it in the isolation?)

In a simple scene, C4D's native render region and interactive render region work for me with a global volume material, and when the volume material is applied to an object. When you say blocked what do you mean, does it crash? Does everything work as expected in the Corona VFB? (Interactive, offline, render regions in the VFB?)

Thanks!

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Corona crashed with motion blur
« on: 2017-10-19, 18:21:39 »
This is my test scene.
Particle amount=15
Shutter speed =1/15
Corona crashed.
If I set particle amount =10
Shutter speed =1/15
Work fine.
If
Particle amount=15
Shutter speed =1/60
also it works.

I get the same crash - however I notice something else odd too, in the renders (when it doesn't crash), the particles are different in the render than in the viewport. I swapped to the Standard render engine, and then the particles appear in the same place when rendered and in the viewport. So perhaps something happening with how Corona is integrating with the particle system, which may or may not be related to this crash.

Most welcome! Not sure if the addition of PSD format to saving from the VFB is planned or not, that would be one for the developers, but at least it has you up and running in the meantime :)

From the Picture Viewer, drop into the Layer tab, ensure Multi-Pass is selected, then use File, Save as, choose PSD format, and ensure Layers is checked (I believe the same process as for any renderer). Hope this helps!

Been a long time since I have had the Alpha installed, but in the latest daily there are several ways to save the file if you stop it early:

The first is the Save All option (dropdown from the Save) in the Corona VFB, this will save one image for each multipass layer. You can also use Save CXR to save it in Corona EXR format. This contains all the layers in one file, and can be opened for adjustment in the Corona Image Editor (or you can rename it to .exr and it will open in any software that opens EXRs).

From the Picture Viewer, under the Corona menu there is the "Dump to EXR" option that does the same thing as "Save CXR" from the VFB.

The CXRs can also be used to resume rendering from where they left off too (https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/12000035761-how-to-pause-and-resume-rendering-with-corona-renderer-for-cinema-4d-)

I'm doing some test with a simple new scene under OSX 10.9.5 and cinema 4d r19 studio... it seems to work fine.. but only one question: why when i stop render under corona VFB, he does not save anything?? no light mix saved... no multi pass.... nothing.... this happen with all new scenes and older a6.4 scene..

If you stop a render early, it won't save, you'd have to manually save it. Could be by design, as if stopping early maybe it's because there was something wrong with it.

If you enable Automatic saving on render end in the Corona Preferences, then if the render completes normally (reaches the time, noise or pass limit) then it will automatically save to the files specified in the rendering settings Save section.

[Max] I need help! / Re: LightMix bug

BTW it's not new, same results from 1.6.1 too.

It might be expected, as part of how the layers will be combined to give the beauty pass, so we will have to see if it is a bug or limitation :)

Curious, as mp4 worked for me (C4D R19). I wonder if it is a codec issue of some sort? Would be interested to hear your results with Quicktime and other video files / video formats.
