[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Mapping Visible in Viewport
« on: 2021-11-18, 19:17:14 »
Read 1218 times from 2018. Still relevant. so here's a bump!

wanted to bring this back up to the top because this problem persists. i've been opening files in R20, relinking there, and then reopening in r23 to continue working. not exactly ideal. Anyone have any further light to shed on this issue?

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Renaming Render Takes - Crash
« on: 2021-04-06, 01:36:36 »
want to mention this happens to all of us here in my office as well, it doesn't happen all the time... so not easily replicable. it simply happens here and there, but it is definitely related to renaming takes. causes c4d to hang (and ultimately crash) maybe 50% of the time i try to rename a take.

[C4D] Feature Requests / Redshift Material Conversion
« on: 2020-12-17, 21:42:33 »
this isn't necessarily a Chaos Group issue, but Megascans now offers C4D support for Redshift and Standard, so i've been importing things using bridge, but if i have corona set as the renderer, it will import with redshift materials applied. I can change to standard render engine and re-import, then convert using corona converter, but only the diffuse slot stays intact. Would be much easier if we can convert the redshift material so I don't need to relink all the maps in the material.

[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: clipping plane with fill option
« on: 2020-12-17, 21:39:44 »
Yes exactly. both the ability to cap objects, and use an object to clip would be great. Camera clipping only goes so far sometimes, and sometimes you need to clip at a different angle than the camera clipper provides.

[C4D] Feature Requests / clipping plane with fill option
« on: 2020-12-16, 02:19:02 »
Feel like sometimes because there are workarounds (in this case, modeling caps), things get forgotten that were requested since version 1.

So, i'm requesting a clipping plane with a fill option again. Like V-ray, so i don't need to cap all the walls in my model when creating axons or sections.

Thanks,

[Max] I need help! / Re: excessive firefly

For me, In most cases it's a symptom of those materials reflecting something very bright (like a bright point in an HDRI that is entirely out of range and overexposed) You can turn on highlight clamping in image filter settings (under system tab) to reduce those artifacts. Or of course lower the intensity of the light or reflection parameter in the material.

see the corona documentation here to help understand the parameters - https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000006462-what-is-highlight-clamping-

I've not had any luck with the latest version unfortunately. it does a mediocre job at best converting vray (max) to vray (max), and all i get is white materials when i convert from corona (max) to corona (c4d). In most cases I end up rebuilding the materials from scratch. I've contacted the creator of the plugin and he keeps saying a new release will be out to fix it.. but it's probably been over a year since then and i haven't seen any updates. Also claims there will be a way to go the other direction as well.. from c4d to max. but that's a different story.

[C4D] Feature Requests / Re: Cinema 4d Material library

In the meantime, can I suggest Poliigon's material plugin? Not sure if you use their textures at all, but it's well worth the monthly subscription imo. 99% of their materials look great out of the box and it saves me a ton of setup time.

Been a few more months. just thought i'd give this a bump. I use it a lot in Max. But i work with a bunch of C4D guys. I'm getting tired of saying "sorry, but it doesn't exist in C4D yet" (and i'm sure they're getting tired of hearing it).

I see... Yup. that was the issue. thank you :D

Hey, this is very likely not a corona issue, but i'm not sure where else to ask, and, the problem is only present when saving exr's from MAX (I also use c4d regularly).
When I save from the frame buffer, or with batch render, my EXR files don't include the background (HDRI or sky environment). I'm using the EXR-IO plugin for photoshop (version 2.02.00 if it matters. pretty recent), the latest stable build of corona, and am using Max 2020 (update 3).

In my scene here, I'm simply using the "single map" option with an HDRI (corona bitmap) in that slot, and a global volume material. no other overrides enabled.

anyone run into this issue before? I found one other thread but it seemed that person was not using any EXR plugin for Photoshop so the thread was considered resolved.

thanks for any help. Really annoying to think you've saved an image, only to open it later and realize you have to comp in the background again.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: What's 2.5D displacement?
« on: 2019-11-07, 22:38:10 »
why is it called 2.5d??

At first i thought it might have a 3rd dimension to the displacement somehow, like you could get convex shapes under your geometry or something by combining multiple displacement maps. That's what the name would imply anyway.

[Max] I need help! / Save open exr from cxr image editor
« on: 2019-11-07, 20:01:36 »
is there any way to save an open exr from within the Corona image editor? so it can be opened in photoshop with all layers intact?

thanks.
