Title: What happened? (Release Candidate 4)
Post by: andeltoz on 2022-04-06, 21:33:04
What happened?
I don't even know how to title the post.
The scene is exactly the same, no changes (only the shot because I did it without fixing the position of the camera). Textures and lighting are blown in one shot.
The scene was created with Release Candidate 2.
The materials are from the Corona Library and Cosmos Browser Browser.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020)
3,6 GHz Intel Core i9 10 core
AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB
MacOS Big Sur 11.6 (20G165)

Can you check your VFB settings (tonemapping) if something looks "unusual"?

I have not changed anything in the VFB between the two images.
Just for information, illumination is only a sky and a sun of Corona

Best bet is to report it via ticket, and upload the scene via private uploader (the version saved from RC 2). There could be tone mapping changes in the VFB, due to the updates to that it is not guaranteed that tone mapping from earlier RCs will be the same on loading, but that's not what you have here with the materials and sun being different. Haven't seen anything similar, so seeing the scene would be the best way for us to diagnose.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I will do it.
I don't know what to say, there will probably be something wrong with my job and it won't be Corona's fault

Don't know, can't say til we see the scene - it is odd, as nothing has changed about the sun, nor about the mapping of textures, so this is not expected from the different versions of the RC. But we can for sure take a look, you never know there could be a bug in there with Corona!

Hi there, I have downloaded your scene but it is missing many materials. Can you please upload it again and use the ''save project with assets'' option from C4D when saving? This will ensure all materials and textures are linked to the scene.

Thanks!

Certainly. I have not done the procedure you reported in order not to alter anything in the original file. I will re-install Release 2 to do as you requested, so that there are no changes to the file.

This may be the same issue. Same material with bumb channel on and off images attached. I used that material a lot with my previous projects.

Can you also test this with the RC5 build and let me know if it's the same?

Same with the RC5. Also, the faulty areas changing according to camera view. Seems like this happens with cubic mapping.

I have builded a basic test scene with the Cosmos materials. It's the same.

Oh thank you for the scene, that's very kind. I will add this to our original report for further investigation.

Yep definitely seems to vary with camera angle.

I THINK It’s fixed in the new “official” release - from my very quick test

Okay, that's good to hear. @Ozankar, have you also tried with the latest V8 release?

I just installed the latest release. It seems perfect, no problem with the bumps. Thank you for your efforts.
