Title: Are caustics working?
Post by: davetwo on 2017-10-05, 16:27:05
Is this implemented yet? I'm trying in the latest build but it's not working.
The Caustic box is ticked in refraction but the shadow looks solid. have tried adjusting various light types and IOR values but no success.

Would you care to show a render of the scene or better yet, post it?
Maybe just look around forums, search for 'caustics'.

BTW - this still stands: Corona 1.4 & Caustic (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=12284.0)

eg. Glass blown and painted..... (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=16141.0) Inside is an example using 1.6 SA version (scene done in Blender)... not really out-of-the-box aproach, but it can be done.

Yes, caustics are working.

It depends on the geometry, the lights, their strength etc. Without a pic or scene file, we can't determine what the problem is.

Caustics have to build up and always start with a black shadow, that after enough sampling, is being blown out by the caustics.(as in other unbiased renderers)

Here's a tutorial on the lights and includes caustics:

One setting which heavily affects both reflective and refractive caustics is MSI:
