I just noticed that corona physical material does not load bitmaps as corona legacy material
while I'm using the same gamma input!
any explanation?

Hi, are you sure this isn't caused by the reflection on the material?
The new Physical material is quite different in this regard

I think it is because ior in physical material is in the base layer and it will affect the color

If you want fair comparison, then turn off reflection in legacy material and set IOR to 1,0 and roughness to 0 in physical material. Write back if you still see significant difference between the two.

Depending on what you want to achieve. If all you want is to completely eliminate reflection, then maybe it's more vise to use legacy material, since your material won't be physically accurate anyway (not that legacy material is physically inaccurate, but it's more suited for fake setups).
