[Max] I need help! / Re: CPU usage drops to ~10%
« on: Today at 11:25:48 »
Thank you for your update.

Can you use this string option to turn off bucket rendering to see if it helps?

use this string code

"string option: int progressive.boxScramblingPassLimit = 10000"

You will need to put it in the string option that is present in the development/experiment stuff rollout in the performance tab of Corona render setup.

If the issue persists then please also try to turn off the adaptivity in development/experiment rollout section.

Remember, you will need to enable devel/debug mode by going into the system tab>system settings>enable devel/debug mode and then you will find a new development/experiment stuff rollout section in the performance tab.

Hi,

Can you let me know if you see the same CPU usage drop behavior with a simple max file with few boxes and geometric shapes?

At what stage of rendering does CPU usage drop? Such as during UHD cache calculation?

By any chance you are using CoronaAO and CoronaRoundEdges in your scene?

Can you try using Corona benchmark to see if you can still see CPU usage drop with it? https://corona-renderer.com/benchmark

I understand that you have already tried turning off caustics but can you double check it again that turning it off does not fix the problem for you?

Can you make sure that your windows is uptodate? Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update

Can you also check if your power settings are set to high performance? Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options>High performance.

Hello.

Here's the zip file:
(Removed)

My project is on an SSD, including the proxies.
All proxies are in wire mode. Not mesh.
I don't use a network. it's locally stored.

Thanks!

Thanks for providing the scene. I was able to repro this issue on my end as well. It seems like changing from CoronaBitmaps to native 3ds Max bitmaps, scene actually saves faster. The issue seems to be related to Corona bitmaps not proxy.

This is now logged: (Report ID=CMAX-964)

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: MultiTexture odd behaviour
« on: 2024-05-10, 12:11:47 »
Hi,

I am unable to reproduce this issue on my end.

Please see the video attached.

I hope you are not referring to the 3rd party multitexture plugin but to Corona multimap.

I am using 3ds Max 2024 and Corona 11 HF 2.

Hi,

A similar issue was reported earlier and as per my knowledge this has been already fixed in the newest version of Corona which is Corona 11 HF 2.

Triplaner Performance issue: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=40848.0

Can you please upgrade to Corona 11 HF 2 and see if the problem persists?

You can download Corona 11 HF 2 from here: https://corona-renderer.com/download

Hi,

Can you please send us your scene via ticket so we can have a quick look?

Hi, Yes

Sorry, I misunderstood this. You are correct that with only 10-20 proxy object in the scene, the file size would not have been that big. It would take a lot of proxies and even then the file size increase would be very very less.

I can test this more thoroughly if you can share your file to see what actually is happening.

There can be other causes too, such as if you saving it locally or on a network. Or you are using a SSD or HDD etc.

Feel free to attach the file here, I will have a look.

Hi,

Can you send us your scene along with repro steps by starting a ticket?

You might be experiencing some network IP/DNS auto resolving issue.

The solution could be to add IP address of node workstation in the main workstation host file that is located in this location: "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"

and then do the same thing in the node system as well. Add ip address and name of the workstation in the hostfile as well.

To get the hostname of your PC, you can use "whoami" command in the CMD and to get the IP address of your pc, you can use the "ipconfig" command and look for the IPV4 address.

I would advise you to consult your network engineer to do this for you and diagnose any network related issue in your PC.

You can also do some basic ping tests from both pc to see if they can communicate with each other or not.

You can also try some of these general troubleshooting steps to see if they help you:

1.Are you using some VPN software? If so, please stop using it and make sure you are using BB/DR on a "classic" local network.
2.Disable any antivirus software you are using on all PCs (including Windows Defender and Firewall) - this is just to check if the issue is related to this software. You can then turn it back on.
3.Add custom inbound/outbound rules in Windows Firewall - See this guide
4.Do not mix Corona's DR and Backburner. Use only one or the other.
5.Make sure on each computer there is only one instance of 3ds Max, DR server, Backburner. If there are multiple instances running at the same time (for example two 3dsmax.exe processes), some issues may appear.
6.Do not render from a perspective view—use some kind of camera, preferably a Corona Camera.
7.Open your scene, go to Render Setup, deselect the "lock" icon in the top right corner. Click on any viewport, then click on the viewport you want to render. Select the "lock" icon in Render Setup again. Such a reset of the rendered view sometimes helps.
8.Disable IPv6 - https://medium.com/@JockDaRock/disabling-ipv6-on-network-adapter-windows-10-5fad010bca75
9.Go to Windows’ Services list and make sure "Function Discovery Provider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" are started. Set them to automatic start.
10.Make sure you have network discovery enabled - https://www.isunshare.com/windows-10/turn-on-or-off-network-discovery-in-windows-10.html
11.Make sure you are using exactly the same 3ds Max version on all of the computers taking part in the distributed rendering (note: even using different update/hotfix versions may cause problems, for example, 3ds Max 2020.3 vs 2020.2).
