Btw, there indeed is a slow convergence bug that produces slow rendering and white dots when mapping opacity :) It has been solved in recent nightly i believe :)

Can someone elaborate a little more about this technic?

I'm trying to get volumetric light passing thru trees.

I didn't get what direction and position that the white plane must have.

Does it even make any difference whether you set the plane perpendicular to camera or lights or just in some random direction?

plane must look at cam. And I use opacity for the planes.

How long did it take? I bet you don't need so many passes so you could try increasing GI samples. But yeah, it's not very usable anyway. :)

cca 20 minutes, yeah i think I had about 4 GI/aa. so that could be better
