Sorry to go a little off-topic here;

I'm just ordering a new PC and the following components have been selected by my guy.

I've already decided to upgrade to RTX 4070 12GB and use water-cooling (LIQTECH TR4 II Series 360mm Liquid CPU Cooler) instead of the air-cooling listed

Any thoughts? Anything I should be weary of?

Thanks!

TRX50, well, all Threadrippers (X and WX alike) now require Registered Memory modules same as Epyc. So that listed memory will not work.

Alright, thanks!

I'll check this out.

I'm certain he'll tell me you're wrong, but I trust you 100% so I'll press him on this!

Ah, I see he's already changed it to: Kingston DDR5 Fury Beast Black 64GB(2x32GB)/5600 CL40

Better?

(Your knowledge is simply amazing, Juraj. I cannot begin to comprehend how this has all not only been amassed but retained!)

Here is example of DDR5 RDIMM (the 'R' - Registered, is important) : https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/gaming/fury-renegade-ddr5-pro-rdimm?speed=5600mt%2Fs&total%20(kit)%20capacity=128gb&kit=kit%20of%204&dram%20density=16gbit&profile%20type=amd%20expo

It's unfortunately whole magnitude more expensive than regular DDR5 memory. I personally didn't know this information few weeks back :- ) I don't really keep up that well now that all PCs are fast and I am not upgrading very often. I know a lot about children bicycles though.

There are also many generic variants that go for cheaper (here is example from few pages back from this thread, I am linking the 256GB version but I am pretty sure there is 128 as well.

Heh, I know the feeling.

Thanks again. My PC guy is updating the components list faster than I can keep up with. Please see latest, any red flags? Still a RAM mismatch?

Do not use Enermax, they've been known for issues generation after generation with their liquid AIO and bad fluid. You have two great options from Silverstone for that processor. Just make sure you go with a 360 mm rad.
