Wow that would be incredible to see. If Blender can talk directly with the Standalone plugin to allow for interactive rendering then i'll probably start crying with joy.

I know that post was 5 years old, so I was wondering if anything has changed?

For me, I use Corona and Blender every single day. Yes the standalone export time is a huge issue, but its something I've come to accept in my workflow with the tradeoff for Corona quality.

I know nothing about coding, but maybe if there was a dedicated team then there might find some way to make Blender work close enough to Corona Standalone that the export time is negligible. Something like OCtane where they have cerated a certain version of Blender which communicates with the standalone perfectly.. "Our modified version of Blender – “Blender OctaneRender™ Edition”"


The biggest issue for me is the compatibility with Blender which frustrates me. The developer has done an absolutely stellar job, but there are so many cracks and holes which make my life quite difficult.
Everything from the Colour Ramp and Curve UI nodes resetting occasionally, to the displacement water level does not working correctly.

Most issues have a workaround, but what I would LOVE is if Corona themselves worked with the current developer to create an absolutely solid Blender Addon or Blender Version, which communicates with Corona Standalone perfectly.

I already pay the developer on Patreon monthly. Is there a problem with making an opensource Corona official Blender Version/addon which people pay for? There are 100's of addons which do this. Plus the users would need a subscription to Corona rednerer anyway.... so you'd get money from that too!

I run the website www.imeshh.com and all of our models are Corona compatible inside of Blender. We are also doing a tutorial series which you can find on our website too, to help out new people to Corona from Blender. If there is anything we can do to help then please let us know. I think our experience working with the current addon would allow us to give you good feedback on what might need changing.

And I just saw that the "denoise while rendering" is an option the users need to tick inside 3DS. So that's why its not working here. Maybe its a tick option Blender can include?

Oh man im so excited for that. If anyone is wondering you can see it in action here. It takes a couple of seconds and then you can see the denoising getting to work straight away. VERY cool

Amazing ill check it out tomorrow! I did have a quick look but nothing was happening. Does it require subdivision or solely the node set up and Corona 1.7?

Sorry slight side note. I wanted to see if corona 3.0 and AIDenoising works as it looks.... breathtakingly fast. However it doesn't look like the denoising while rendering works, I'm guessing that's an issue with Corona Standalone?
i know you're not actively working with 3.0, but I thought id see if you knew anything :)

I saw in a recent update that corona displacement might available. Is that true? If so is there an optimal to way to make it work?
Is this similar to Blenders displacement node set up then?

If i have a texture which is a roughness map but I need to plug it into the gloss input for Corona, I need to invert it so I use the tonemap shader.
However, the tone map shader invert button doesn't appear to work correctly and instead puts the gloss to almost 100% gloss/ignores the map altogether

If I use the colour ramp and switch the white and black input (to invert the texture) it works correctly.


If I use the tone map shader invert button. its wrong


If i set the gloss to 100%, it looks exactly the same as setting the tone map shader to invert.


So its almost as if the invert button just completely makes it ignore the texture altogether?

Hey guys,

Just a quick update, subscriptions have gone live now so you can download more of the Blender and Corona ready models and textures :).

I'm working on my next model release which is going to be industrial themed. So anything with pipes, leather, roughness, metallness. Let me know if you have any requests.

We also have about 30ish products for free if you guys need them :)

Personally I think that if I can get my hands on Corona 2.0 first then i'll be happy. Because I use Blender and Corona, half of the cycles features are unusable anyway. Plus 2.79 has been good to me for the past (year?), so 2.8 isn't so important to me right now. The features for Corona 2.0 though... they look amazzinggg

Thanks for getting back to me about this, I've been trying to replicate this but I cannot seem to. It has always stated that no credit card is required in roughly 3 pages on our site too, so I can understand your feeling of being mislead.

I guess it was a bug which you found, which i'm very sorry for. If you can give me your username I can give you some free tokens!!
