We have a similar task logged.

(Report ID=CMAX-915)

32
Thanks, I will check it ASAP.
(note to self: #231699)

We can surely log this as a feature request, but if you could share a specific use case, that would be awesome. :)

34
We have some possible improvements on this. We will perform some tests and let you know whether this specific issue is fixed or not. Stay tuned!

35
They will not. Converting a Corona Pattern to geometry would be as realistic as converting a reflection to geometry. :)

For things like legal/licensing questions, I would highly recommend starting a support ticket - https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
We have dedicated teams who can provide you with accurate information on such topics.

Hello, we understand that texture baking is critical for some users, but unfortunately we need to prioritize many other features higher because they are more commonly requested and generally more in-line with the usual Corona use cases.

We have multiple tasks/feature requests related to texture baking logged in our internal trackers. If you have some specific request (e.g. specific render elements), please list them here and we will make sure to update those internal tasks.

@Jens - if you could provide a use case here, that would be great. :)

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Remote DR
« on: 2024-04-10, 15:23:06 »
Hi Jpjapers, similar topics were discussed on the forum many times. You can search for stuff like "DR backburner" and it will show you various posts and solutions.

Basically, the idea of DR is literally distributed rendering. So you distribute a single rendering between 2 or more machines.
In case of submitting a rendering from one machine (which is not rendering) for rendering on another single machine, distributed rendering is irrelevant. It requires at least 2 rendering computers.

What you can try instead is:
- Submitting the rendering to Backburner (you submit from computer A and the rendering takes place on computer B)
- Using Backburner with Corona DR (only in case of 1 computer you are submitting from and 2 or more rendering computers) - while this scenario is not officially supported (we can't guarantee it would work), some users were able to use it - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=27657.msg162920#msg162920
- Using 3rd party apps to submit the rendering on computer A and execute on computer B - for example Pulze or Deadline. I *think* they have free licenses for rendering on 1-2 computers.

thanks all - however now that i revert back to the HOTFIX, it still crashes - but not when i select camera - after or during a render now.

Is there some diagnostic tool i can view or file dump to see where and what is causing?

Did you save a file with a Corona 12 daily build and then load it in Corona 11? Sorry, but that won't work.
You can capture a minidump and send it to us for analysis, but if what I wrote above is your scenario, then there is nothing we could fix: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4649117083409-How-to-report-issues-3ds-Max

Good idea! On it!

You can use a single cache for multiple cameras. The only risk is that the quality of the cache generated from camera A will be a little bit worse than if it would be generated for camera B, but that should not be any major issue. It should not cause any rendering slowdown or other problems.

Since you mentioned sea waves, if it's an exterior scene (like a beach) without interior elements or areas illuminated by strong GI, maybe the best solution would be to use path tracing as both the primary and the secondary solver? The UHD cache is mostly useful for interiors.

Thank you for your effort, Pokoy! This has to be one of the greatest bug reports ever made.
We already have a similar report (Report ID=CMAX-251), but I will double check to make sure it's the same issue.
