Aha, I see. You're correct, multi-pass output format should be at least 16bpc (tiff, exr, psd).

Also, note that ACES OT clamps final results.

Check Normals & Phong angels. Know about new tools.
Best start being, you providing what you've already done yourself, then us advising/upgrading on that.

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: Bumping the bump bug
« on: 2023-11-01, 22:02:48 »
Yup, preparing maps as best as possible, or editing on the fly (3rd party app) and excluding use of Corona Bitmap & CC is still advisable for more Effortless workflow™. (Bump and "Filter" work w/o those - on top layer).

Also, out of curiosity, how are Cinema's other render engines (either standard, physical, redshift) results look like?

i think this is an important step to fix this bug as soon as possible, i have seen some threads with this and i think this bug should be given special attention, you don't want to check your scenes for correctness all the time.
What specifically are you referring to?

Consider 'cutting' elongated edges (avoid poles, fix edge flow...)
Then, either use "Remesh" or manually rebuild/retopo 'geo' in question (Poly-pen).
Also, learn to handle "terminator shift" with-in Corona.

Also, if you changed versions (C4d or corona) during 'work-on-project', move (copy/paste) all your elements to a new scene file.
Oftentimes this helps.

Well, Vray has specific procedural "VRayFlakesMtl" that Corona doesn't have. And while 3DS Max users can take advantage of OSL version, C4D users can't. Which means you're stuck with 'lesser' option to 'fake it until you make it'.
For starters, look around, IIRC there are few examples... ie. Nail polish/Carpaint aka "Glimmer"

Here's a quick "Physical metal material" test based off of it (noise scaled to 1% and added coat w/ absorption).

Hmm... If only, "Volume priorities" control would be up to the user/artist.
No other engine has such limited and so buggy approach.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Animate Simple Exposure Value
« on: 2023-10-01, 14:25:31 »
Could you open a new thread for RT/IV issue and post a simple scene, video, describing steps to reproduce, full specs... showing, exposing the bug.
IIRC, there was such a bug some time ago, but for now (v10.1) runs well...

Although during more intensive, complex workflow, C4D can and occasionally IR/IV does stall (can't keep up and doesn't refresh) as it seems it's still highly sensitive to hierarchical order when generative processing and procedural/ key-framed animations are involved. But then, on 2nd action IR/IV responds again. (?)

You can use "Thin Film" with either "Legacy" or "Physical" materials
More on thread here: "C4D Thinfilm doesn't work anymore with Corona"

"Photographic exposure" renders fine in RT/IV (CRN v10.1).

PS. I use "ISO" alone as substitute for "simple exposure".

Regarding, check PRMan's documentation on their "txmake" tool.
Also, almost all 'heavy lifting' was automated few years ago w/ "RenderMan Utility Manager" (by Amir Ashkezari on GitHub).
