Has the attached happened to anyone. Not sure if it is a 3ds max issue or corona issue. It doesn't show up for any daylight system. Without the attachment I can not use the photographic settings. It doesn't work, the only thing that I can do to adjust the daylight/corona sky is using the simple exposure control settings. I'm using 3ds max 2023 and Corona 9 (Hotfix 1)

Is there a way to use Direct Visibility Override through glass? I feel like this feature is missing and doesn't work. The only workaround is to turn the glazing off to get the results I need. I've tried going to advanced settings in the glazing material propagate but that still doesn't seem to work. Thank you in advance for any solutions to this. Working with 3ds Max2023 and Corona 9 Hot Fix1

[Max] I need help! / Direct visibility override issue
« on: 2021-12-22, 14:54:54 »
Not sure if it is a bug. I have Corona version7 (Hotfix1)

When I use Direct visibility override, I use to create an almost black background so that when I select the inverted Alpha channel to cut the background out of the Corona rendered image it helps cut back the halo edge issues especially with trees and plants.

So I used the Direct visibility override, I get a partial black background and not a full one. See attached image. Is this a bug? Is there a work around on this issue? I'm also using Corona sun/sky.

Thanks for your help!

The design intent was to create an eco-friendly, cost effective, off-the-grid cabins that are to be built around the Ozolini farm in rural Latvia. The Ozolini farm is a Latvia tea company that creates a mixture of unique herbal teas.

The Competition asked that the designers propose a design that would provide a comfortable living accommodation to a single person for 4-5 days. It had to be in operation for all seasons of the year, to contain a sufficient clear floor area for meditation. It also needed to include an area to store small amounts of food and water, alternative lighting options as well as a way to heat the place in the winter months.

Our design focused on being built in the forest area as well as around the small lake.

Although we didn't win anything it was a fun competition to be a part of and a learning experience.

[Max] I need help! / Creating shadows for .png extension
« on: 2018-12-10, 20:39:19 »
So My client has asked me if there is a way to add shadows to a .png file. This is my challenge. Everything is modeled in the space I have this piece of furniture in, so the client has asked me to hide the 3d environment, which I did. I hid it from the camera but uses the hidden geometry to for reflections. So now they are asking if there is a way to add shadows underneath the object and still have a .png file so that they can place the image into another background but to have the shadow with it. See attachment. If any one has a solution that would be great. Thank you for your time.

Best,
Mike

[Max] I need help! / Cubemap rendering very bright!
« on: 2016-10-13, 04:01:24 »
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I have checked off Override for Cubemap, enabled Virtual Reality mod. I have "enabled override" and "enabled effect" checked for bloom and glare

bloom intensity .5
Glare intensity  .5
Threshold 1.0
streak count 3
streak blur .2

I start rendering this cubemap and everything seems very bright like blown out and then turns all white and can't see anything. Now if I render individual frames it renders out correctly, using the same camera. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

Gallery / Clarksville Commons
« on: 2016-06-06, 04:35:34 »
We were commissioned to generate an image for this 40,000 sq.ft. Towncenter. It will consist of retail, office, restaurants, and community happenings.

The vision for Clarksville Commons includes a strong commitment to the environment. They want to make a bold statement with using sustainable and renewable energy, reuse of storm water, and limiting runoff. They want to introduce this site as a "green" project

The project was modeled using SketchUp, 3DS Max and Revit. Rendered using Corona 1.3. Photoshop and ArionFX were used in the post production process. Thanks for viewing!

[Max] I need help! / [solved]Everything has gone Black!
« on: 2016-05-05, 08:44:31 »
Okay,
Are there any bugs that haven't been recognized yet? I started working with 3DS Max 2016 and Corona 1.3. Before this I had been working on projects in 3DS Max 2015 and Corona and have had no problems.

When I started applying textures to objects,in 3DS Max2016 my Material editor went all black and I couldn't see any textures what so ever. In the viewport I can see the textures applied. Now in addition to not being able to see my materials in the Material editor slot, when I try to render it renders black.

So I decided to go back to 3DS Max 2015 and open up the same file. When I open the material editor, it also is black (no materials) can be seen. Try to render and same results. Black. no image. I went to see if I could open a file that I recently worked on and knew it would render and it rendered a blank screen.

I feel that once I opened and worked in 2016 that is when everything started to fall apart. Are there any fixes to this? Kind of frustrated at the moment. Thank you for your time!

Best,
Mike

Staring at some options trying to figure out which version of sunset would best work with this scene. I think Opt 01. I know things will need to be adjusted as I start to add more materials. What are your thoughts. Thanks for Chiming in!

Here is one our latest projects completed for a client. They asked us to model a kitchen for one of there apartment units. The rendering was used to create a 13x9ft Mural, to be life like in there sales room. It was modeled in SketchUp and 3D Max and Rendered in Corona. Thanks for viewing!

Is there a way to render out just an Corona AO pass or Corona Wire, without having to render out the Beauty pass as well? I used to be able to do this in Mental Ray. Thanks!

Here is a rendering using the DOF parameters in Corona. Also tried creating the gas flames using the thin film Shader found here http://www.sigerstudio.eu/product-category/plugins-free/3ds-max/. A friend of mine (Jeff Patton) sent me this link. It is a great shader. the only thing I did in Photoshop was used the burn/dodge tool to brighten the flames at the base and created the steam coming out of the kettle. Thanks for viewing!

Work in Progress/Tests / Learning Corona- Kitchen test
« on: 2015-10-30, 18:53:21 »
Good afternoon,

Attached is a rendering of my Kitchen. I like a lot of things that Corona has to offer. I'm hoping though that they will add Glare/Glints/highlights in the next version. But I feel this is very promising! Thanks for viewing!

I was wondering how to make a lamp shade look on. In 3D Max you were able to select a light, include a object only (Lampshade), and check off ambient only so that the light only illuminates the lampshade. Is there a way to do that in Corona? Thanks!
