Title: Unique Material Identification
Post by: BigAl3D on 2018-12-07, 19:00:13
So, since Maxon have changed some of their material thumbnails, the striped background to a new, very close to Corona, checkerboard pattern, it's very difficult to distinguish if a material is native C4D Node or Uber material or a Corona one. I suppose one could permanently change the object in the Corona material from a sphere to something else.

Just curious if I'm the only one that is annoyed by this.

What would you suggest, guys? We would love to help you, but I am not sure there is an easy solution here. You see, the objects are customizable, so we cannot simply use a different default object. The background is also checkered on purpose, so we wouldn't want to change that either. One thing that comes to my mind is putting a tiny Corona logo into one of the corners of the preview. Would that work for you? Or do you have any other ideas?

Could be a good idea, some possible suggestions ;)

Good point, HFPatzi...

So what about something like this?

BTW, Ben, your third idea is impossible to do and incompatible with C4D conventions of highlighting the materials of selected objects (try to select an object with assigned material and check that material's preview in the material manager)

Ah yes, I see what you mean ;) Good point. So an icon of some sort is the right approach. :)

Hehe almost. What i meant was the List-View in the Material Manager but you're right in the object manager the Icons are even smaller.
But I like the idea of that diagonal thingy in the bottom right corner of the material icon.
