Another trick would be to put a thin object in front of the lights. Like a sheet. Like a real-life diffuser. But this would probably make your rendertimes crazy.

This would be absolutely pointless. Corona lights are already perfectly diffuse unlike their RL counterparts.

Lovely head. Area between eyebrows and nose tip looks very natural and lifelike. Keep posting progress!

Cool, let's hope that V1.3 won't make us wait too long for it :]

To me Corona result looks more legit. Could it be due to different strength of normal bump in both renderers? Can you try to increase strength in Vray or decrease it in Corona and see if you could match results?

Working as expected here. I'm on aug 17 build. Can you provide simple scene or at least pictures that illustrates a problem?

This is not a bug. Keep edges option is removed from UI as it's always enabled now. In your mentioned video is shown UI of an older build.

I was asking for CoronaLights backface culling some time ago, but was given wireframe instead :] Which is good enough for me.

There is one trick however that may suit your needs or maybe not. Move all your lights into separate layer and set backface cull>on in properties of that layer. Now set display properties> by layer in properties of lights and voila - you have backface culling on your lights!

I'm sorry maru, but i think that method suggested by Rawalanche is plain rubbish. It's nowhere near as convenient as old sun controls was. I'd rather stick with daylight system. OTOH i'm getting used to new sun and doesn't feel much need in numerical controls anymore :]

Don't know how it is for others, but for me 99.9% of times when i use CoronaWire map, i have to change default settings to something else. Current defaults makes little sense to me. I would much prefer those: base color - 128, 128, 128 edge color 0, 0, 0 width (pixels) - selected, edges - on, vertices - off, all edges - off.

Displacement in your example clearly not working as it should. I can't remember exactly in what build filtering of displacement maps was removed, but you can try to set filtering lower or turn it off completely to see if it helps.

You can be sure displacement will eat all available RAM if you go with such extreme values as 0.2px screen size. Try a more reasonable values like 1px first. As for subdividing, there's not a much point to pre subdivide much if your topology is good. For a big flat single poly plane like in your example, turbosmooth with couple iterations is plenty enough.

If you have access to daily builds and feel comfortable enough to use it, i recomend to try latest daily - displacement has some significant improvement in it. See attached example. Screen size of 1px was used, but 2px gives not much worse result either.

  • Since items in distribute on objects and instanced objects lists are not editable, it's impossible to see full item's name in case it's quite long. Horizontal scrollbar would help here or alignement by right at very least.
  • Ability to select more than on item in distribute on objects and instanced objects lists, so it'd be possible to change frequency and density values en masse.

Wasn't viewport lighting the main reason behind replacing old CoronaSun with new one? Anyway, you can try daylight system if you prefer numerical input control.

No, you can't unfortunally. However you can use max daylight system instead - it's not as convenient as old CoronaSun used to be, but still not bad.
