I know there is a corona volume material which is described as capable of producing aerial perspective / fog, but I've never managed to get it work properly. There must be other and more simple way to get further planes more desaturated or tinted toward desired color. And without affecting the hdri sky map as a main light source and background because those photos are already captured with aerial perspective.

I read about some 3d masking on other post using CGeometry_worldposition render pass. It has been said that you can generate a sort of 3d masking with that. (Never used once)

there is big update to the volumetrics coming, that includes the true volumetric fog
