[C4D] General Discussion / Corona 11 and Pyro
« on: 2023-12-05, 18:18:26 »
I see in the marketing release that this version works natively with Pyro, yet I can't get it to work.  Any guide or help files to show how to set this up?

My "high tech" experiment was adding a sphere, adding a pyro tag to it, running the sim in time.  Render.  Nada.  What am I missing?

[C4D] General Discussion / Motion Blur on backplate
« on: 2023-04-24, 22:56:46 »
Hi,

I've got a simple scene with a car model, a backplate, a HDRI to light and a plane with a shadowcatcher under the car.  Easy.  I'm trying to add motion blur and have watched tutorials, searched forum, etc. but I can only get the car to blur and not the backplate.  What am I missing....

Keyframed the car at Frame 01.  Advanced to Frame 90 and moved the car forward and keyframed it.  Made the camera a child of the car.  Turned on Motion Blur for both object and Camera.  Adjusted my Shutter Speed.  Advance to frame 30ish and hit render.  Car is blurred, backplate is perfectly in focus. Level of blur looks good, it's just that I want it inverted (car focus, backplate blurred).

I'm sure I'm missing something simple.  Any thoughts?  Thanks team - the model and the backplate are behind NDA, so I can't share the file, but will make a dummy/proxy file if that is needed.  Using Corona 9 in R2023.1.0

Thanks!

[C4D] General Discussion / Refresh Button?
« on: 2022-12-16, 20:08:43 »
What does the Refresh button do in the VFB?  It never seems to do anything for me and I can't find it in the Help files.  I'd love it to refresh the scene to restart the IR when I make a change that isn't automatically picked up, but alas.... nada.

Also - what about the PICK button?

Thanks!

Hello,

I have a simple test smoke sim here (using the new pyro) - this was cached to a VDB file and put into a Corona Volume Grid.  Here's the question:

When the bounding box for the VDB intersects other geometry, it throws shadows - see attached.  Is there a way to avoid this?  Scene is lit with a Physical Sky and a single Area light at the ceiling level, but not intersecting the sim at all.  I have this problem with any VDB that I use, not just Pyro generated ones.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello!  I'm RnDing some rope dynamics for an upcoming project.  I'm using C4D 2023 and the new Corona 09 release.  I have a few strands of rope twisting together, but when I turn on the IR, I get the ropes in their starting position only, but if I RENDER, it works normally and I am seeing the dynamics in action - see attached images.  Am I missing something obvious?  I'm on Windows 10.

Thanks,

e.

SEARCHING FOR FATHER

The machine didn't give us answers, it just connected points in space to make the picture clearer. Where are you?

I've chipped away at this one for a while in my spare time - playing with different lighting looks. Based on architecture by Buro511.

Modeled in Vectorworks and rendered with Corona for Cinema4D.

Various experiments, client R & D etc.

I use Corona for Cinema4D and model mostly in Vectorworks, but also in Cinema.  I'm a Production Designer, but I've been playing in product design lately.

More work as it comes, here's a few recent shots to get the thread started.  Questions or C&C always welcome.  Thanks for looking!

[C4D] General Discussion / Material rebuild
« on: 2019-04-17, 18:14:36 »
HI!

I use the Magic Solo plugin from Nitroman (I find the native Solo functions to be clunky) and the plug in works the way I want it to.  However - every time I solo something and exit - the materials in the scene rebuild.  Normally that is okay, but I'm working on two projects now that have 100+ materials.  Is there anyway to eliminate so many rebuilds?  I know I'm going out on a limb here.......

[C4D] General Discussion / Pool water
« on: 2019-03-05, 19:44:33 »
Hi,

After a million years rendering in the entertainment industry, I've been doing more architectural work lately and I have an upcoming project that has a pool in the back yard.  I'm wondering what the standard practice is for the water:

Do you make a cube of water to fill the volume and displace the top surface or do you just make a surface plane only and the bulk of the pool is empty.  I usually lean towards realistic scenarios working better, but I'm wondering what others have to say about this.  Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Early transfer test on a file I am building in Vectorworks then moved into Cinema.  Still building, but just wanted to see it quickly.  When I render with the VFB, I get expected results, but when I render with the IR, I get huge geometry shifts.  Yes - the way Vectorworks handles symbols/instances is annoying :)  But I do this all day long and have never seen this, so I don't know what's different in this file.  I'll upload the C4D file.

Windows 10(1709 Build 16299.431) Running Cinema 4D R18(RB197636) and using Corona B1(core 1.7).

Thanks for taking a look!

EDIT: I also just noticed the file size is humongo!  Not sure why it is so big... (450MB). 1526056337_Stairs-EA.c4d.zip

Hi,

While working with the IR - I set up a camera and then dial in the POST settings (Tone mapping, bloom and glare, etc).  Any time I exit the camera and then come back into camera - my settings for any and all POST functions has been reset to default values.  This happens on any scene, at any time for me.  It doesn't matter if I set the options from the Camera tag or in the IR/VFB window.

Windows 10(1709 Build 16299.248) Running Cinema 4D R18(RB197636) and using Corona B1(core 1.7).

I feel like this has always happened - even when using earlier builds on an iMac and a 12 Core cheese grater as well, but I never documented it before.

Thanks for your continued development and support!

I have setup lighting for a scene using the IR and gotten everything dialed in.  But when then rendering to the VFB or directly in the Picture Viewer, I get much brighter results.  I've stripped down the scene to it's basic shell.  I will upload a scene file with machine and software specs and some stills for you in a moment (1508778665_EA-To-Corona-Devs.zip).  I am not an arch viz guy by training, so excuse me if I am doing something wrong.

A thread for various images, experiments and lighting studies.  I use Corona with Cinema 4D and am not an architect :)
