General CG Discussion / Motiva Layama v1.5
« on: 2021-04-28, 10:08:25 »

Everyone loves real VR visualizations, but unfortunately, they have some major drawbacks: they need high-end devices and they are really heavy to be sent.

Layama tries to close the gap between 360s and VR by transforming your 3d projects into a pseudo-VR webpage with a minimal artist time required (less than 5 minutes!)

Now we have released the v1.5 of Layama with the heavily requested feature hotspots (or interactive labels).

You can visit a demo made to showcase these changes here:
https://www.motivacg.com/softwaredownloads/layama/storehotspots/ (also notice the small icon in the top center of the viewport!)

For now, it only supports Corona in the 3dsmax platform but C4D will be supported in the future.

You can watch all the tutorials here:

A new version of the software that allows you to move in pseudo-VR navigation, that now includes a free (even for commercial projects) Lite version.

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

I hope it looks not only simple but good too ;-)

Concerning VR support originally it was not on the todo list but some users asked for that and will be placed in the queue.

We will improve existing features until 1.5 and that one will introduce new UI controls and so, VR is placed after that.

[Max] Corona Goodies - User Contributions / Corona & Layama
« on: 2020-03-27, 20:39:08 »

Hi everyone, I'd love to show you our latest work with Corona, in this case, it covers development tasks and 3d design.
It is named Layama and it is a kind of pseudo-vr.

Everyone loves real VR visualizations, but unfortunately, they have some major drawbacks: they need high-end devices and creating this kind of project is difficult and costly and after all, you still probably won't get the same quality than using Corona.

Layama tries to close the gap between 360s and VR by transforming your 3d projects into a pseudo-VR webpage with a minimal artist time required (less than 5 minutes!)

Here are a couple of examples:

Apartment (a common example of usage) 3dsmax + Corona: https://www.motivacg.com/softwaredownloads/layama/berganza

"Of the future" scene made by Bertrand Benoit (a much more creative example) 3dsmax + Corona + iToo Railclone https://www.motivacg.com/softwaredownloads/layama/benoit

Also if you are wondering how to create this kind of project I just recorded some video tutorials (sorry for my super heavy Spanish accent!) https://www.motivacg.com/layama/videotutorials/

I hope you like it, any feedback is welcome!

We are a super small company so we need to prioritize our time, last year I spent lots of time on Datasmith (the plugin that was acquired by Epic), and also Anima (the crowd system) takes a huge part of my time so I need to invest on the tasks that will have better acceptance in the community. Do you think that this will be a nice addon for Corona?

Btw I have Colimo V2 almost ready since a year ago! but as I said I have more ideas than time.

You said Candyman x3.

I spoke with Ondra some time ago about this but unfortunatly we need to built some special passes, I get a preview API of Corona but I'm not sure if this is enough, V-Ray was made using their native OSL (Open Shading Language) support.

It looks that you have said Candyman 3 times in front of a mirror!

Here is Víctor M. Feliz developer in Motiva, lets go step by step:

- Thea render, I'm not part of the team but just did the 3dsmax plugin and the Colimo related internals etc, also I work in other third party projects like Anima V2.

- Colimo is not dead but "production paused" I had the intention of release V2 last year its almost finished but some minors unfortunatly days have only 24 hours.

- We use it a lot in sites like www.awlandsundry.com (go to design part) also some well known companies are using it on its workflow, unfortunatly not a very generic workflow.

- I've spoke with Ondra sometimes to support Corona without.

- I'm finished my new 'toy' really really happy with it and fully Corona compatible.

Regards, Víctor
