Hi all,
I am working on a scene that relies on caustics. I was hoping I could deal with corona caustics without doing major tricks or fake post-production.
The real caustics would come out ok, the issue is the number of white dots defining the caustics themselves.
Please have a look at images.....is there any way to improve the quality?
btw....this is a kind of 'noise' that won't go away with any denoise.

Thanks a lot.

It's not clear from these images what is creating the caustics - is it some pool of water? Windows?

It's shallow water on top of a glass structure.
I know it's a complex scene to calculate. I have tried with just the water, without any glass underneath and the issue stays the same.
It doesn't seem a material/object related issue.

thanks for your interest.

Might be a case where it's best to send in the scene for the developers and support to check. See https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006-how-to-report-issues-3ds-max , the private upload location is in the quick links on that page along with useful info. Be sure to include a link to this forum thread when uploading the file :)

Thanks!

I have realized the white spots only appear when rendering within a region......I think this is something it was already mentioned.

Thanks

Yes, render regions don't work correctly with caustics at the moment.
