[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Backplate issue with gloss map
« on: 2019-06-10, 15:33:56 »
Thanks for the clarification Maru.

I know you mentioned this was on the very hard list but it would be great to get fixed. There are obviously workarounds but as back-plates are used A LOT in ArchViz a simple workflow would be fantastic!

Thanks

[Max] Bug Reporting / Backplate issue with gloss map
« on: 2019-06-10, 11:53:54 »
Pretty sure this is a bug, unless my material is not setup correctly.

It's very simple to replicate. I have a backplate with a lightmaterial and "Emit Light" switched off. Into this is a conrona tonemap control map and a corona bitmap (normal setup I believe, see attached). I am also using a default sun/sky setup

The problem seems to happen with you add a map including procedural into the gloss map slot or change the gloss value lower than 1. This then creates unwanted shadowing and artefacts.  The ground material is just a simple white material. I have noticed before that you get unwanted shadowing using backplates but have only just worked out what it might be.

I am currently using Corona 4 rc3 but I noticed this with previous versions.

Please can you confirm this is correct.

Hi Ondra,

the LightMix button is better now it creates an array from the selected group of lights. Is there any reason why you cant click the "+" button in the RE and it populate the include area with the selected lights. Groups can be quite annoying to keep having to open/close etc. Personally I have never grouped lights, but have been careful to name correctly so they are easily selected. A populate list from selection button would be fantastic!

Many thanks!

In terms of the Distance Map it would be great to have "inside separate, inside solid, outside separate, outside solid" like Vray. These can be quite handy so you can use the object as a boundary object to enclose a colour/texture as opposed to just setting the distance from the object on the outside.

It would also be great to have a button where you can add selected objects to the "node input", just easier to select objects in the view port and add these with a single click of a button.

Hi Ondra,

Any chance you know when will have access to this new version. I have a scene i'm currently working on with 600+ lights and this would be most useful!!!!

Many thanks

To be honest they are very well lit and textured nicely. The price point may be slightly low, but from someone new to "selling scenes" it probably isn't a bad starting point. Like Malor said Bertrand Benoit has built up a very good reputation over many years so therefore can charge the prices he does. Someone new to the market simply cannot charge a similar price.

The way to view it would be do you charge a good amount more and sell very few or sell a large amount more at a lower price point (somewhat of an introductory price). If/When you start to get good feedback and word spreads then start charging a little bit more, the businesses out there charging high prices for quality products didn't start charging that price from day one. If they are overpriced to start off with there will be no reputation to build on as you need as many people to buy and spread the word as possible.

Just my thoughts on it, good luck though.
