I get an error message when I start 3ds Max. I found and deleted * .conf files, but nothing happened. What is it? How to fix it?
UPD
On one of my computers after installing Corona 1.5 shows this window, and then crash 3dsmax. Remove Corona 1.5 will fix it.
Windows 7, all updates. Max 2014 SP5.

What conf file you deleted?

All of which I found the Corona's folders.
What of *.conf files I must delete? ))

If that's Corona related error then deleting most recent conf file in Corona folder should fix it. But maybe that's something that has nothing to do with Corona. What makes you believe it's not max itself related error?

It starts when I install new version of Corona.
It disappears when I uninstall new version of Corona.
I am not one, who get this error.
There is no such file in Corona folder. Need a search, which find many files by the *.conf request. Its not so easy to find the right files.

I've erased the files, twice. I find them via windows search.

try deleting also SystemSettings.ini/conf - there might be incorrect version from one of the dailies

The message appears again when I change the Production render to Corona in Common tab.
There was no dailes or cracks, only official licensed versions.

have the same problem.
deleting those files helps only before i start opening different windows in 3dsmax (render setup, for example)

I am not sure, but it looks like the majority of users with this problem are from Russia/some other countries with non-latin alphabet. Do you have some special national characters in your Windows user name? (e.g. Cyrillic characters?)

Yes. Thats it. But there is another problem (see picture):
"Администратор" is the system integrated account in licensed russian Windows.
How to "tell" to Corona that it uses "User" folder instead of "Администратор" folder? Disabling "Администратор" account and reinstalling under "User" didnt help ( The files appears again in the "Администратор" folder (
And.. why not to store these files here: C:\Program Files\Corona :) ?

Then... another bug. I created one more new user with only latin characters. Try to install Corona and got the crash! (screenshot)
If I switch то integrated system account "Администратор", i can install Corona without problems. But in this way i get the same message about Error in .conf file.

That is exact reason why i never considered to use localised windows.

We cannot use non localized windows, because of license. Because it is not only one user at home, who can do all he want. This is company, architectural bureau. We bought 7 box subscriptions, and we expect that the program will work.
The last version of Corona works well. And the others too. So, "dont use localised windows" is not an answer, is not a solution.
And, for example, if Corona will use this path: "C:\Program Files\Corona"
instead of this (which can changed from user to user):
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\corona
is will be the solution.
Or, may be, button "Set config dir", if this dir is a weak/important point of program.
So, how to fix the problem with error window, with crash in new user account during install? Maybe hotfix fo 1.5?

By no means my post was meant to be solution to your problem. I just expressed my attitude towards Microsoft products. Sorry for misunderstanding.

Could you please send us the problematic .conf files for debugging? Either via the private uploader (https://corona-renderer.com/upload/ (https://corona-renderer.com/upload/)) or create a bug report on Mantis and attach the files there.
And.. why not to store these files here: C:\Program Files\Corona :) ?
If we did this, you would need to run 3ds Max with administrator privileges to be able to modify Corona global system settings. Also when the computer is shared by more users, each one can have his own custom global settings this way.

It is not a problem to run any program as administrator. It is easy. It will be good!
And sometimes it is a only way to run a program correctly.
Romullus, no problem )) Im just try to explain in detail the situation and find a solution, wich good for all. I agree with you about Microsoft.

is will be the solution.
This is exactly one of the reasons why we use "useUserProfiles=0" in "InstallSettings.ini" of the Max installation directory since the time when max started to use user profile subfolders. If you set this, above directory points to the corresponding directory in the max installation folder - the same directory for every user. It´s a very unknown feature and makes max behave like very early versions :)

Looks like we have a solution, but this will probably need a hotfix.
If you are getting this message, go to:
C:\Users\_username_\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2017 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\corona
There, find a file named like Config-4885458.conf (the numbers can be different).
In this file you should see a line saying:
String system.workingDirectory = "C:\\Users\\xxxxxxxxx"
Make sure that the line ends with quotation marks ( " ).
So if it is:
String system.workingDirectory = "C:\\Users\\
Then change it to:
String system.workingDirectory = "C:\\Users\\"
Let me know in this thread if it works, and also if it works after restarting the PC. If it does, we will add it to helpdesk solutions, and I will file a report on Mantis.

I found the same problem in SystemSettings.conf
This file is also necessary to fix by the same way, if the error continues to appear.

I must admit that one semester of Russian (taken a long time ago) is not enough for me to read this error message. Could you please translate or just sum up what's that about?

I fixed the problem with crash. It was 3dmax bug. Deleting 3dmax.ini will fix it.

It doesn't help at all. After editing "Config-4885458.conf" the sigh has not appeared. In the version 1.5.1 it all returned back :(
