Vary has a texture preview feature, Use full resolution, its very handy for modeling over pdfs.
What is the equal in Corona Render?

Thank you

Can somebody answer this.
This is why I don't put the queries int the general forum, they never get enough traffic to get an answer..................

Hi,

there is no comparable feature in Corona. You have to increase the resolution for all bitmaps in the scene. However, you can do this separately for native Max bitmaps and for Corona bitmaps in the Viewport configuration: Max bitmaps use the "Texture Maps" value, Corona bitmaps use the "Baked Procedural Maps" value.

Good Luck

Dont want to confuse 'matters - but in C4D there is a dropdown to change the preview resolution in the material dialogue.
This makes it nice and sharp in the viewport.
Perhaps this is a shortcoming of max rather than corona?

Well, vray obviously can do it. The Max restriction is just the maximum size of 16k afaik.

Not sure what you mean here, it's just as documented here. I cannot tell you why CoronaBitmaps are treated like procedural maps, could only guess :)

Good Luck

Isn't it 8K? I have set it at 8K and the quality is still quite shitty, probably because they use the cheapest filtering there is.

Tested quickly a 11k JPG, my findings:

Difference between 8k and 16k settings for "Bitmaps" using 3ds Max bitmap: None

Difference between 8k and 16k settings for "Procedural maps" using Corona bitmap: Very noticeable

So it looks to me as if the 3ds Max bitmap node is limited to those 8k you mentioned (?). Corona bitmap seems to go higher (and generally looks better in the viewport anyway). But as you said, could be filtering only.

Good Luck

Interesting findings. The only problem is that i need high resolution textures in viewports only for blueprints when i'm doing modeling, but that's when my renderer is set to scanline and using Corona bitmaps would be pretty inconvenient.

As workaround, I use regular bitmap node for blueprints, because I could find any solution with CoronaBitmap...
