Hardware / Computer spec 7950X with 192 of RAM?
« on: 2023-05-03, 23:29:47 »
Hi friends, I was asked to put together a computer specification for the studio to work with Max and Preview Render with Corona. For final render i send to the render farm.
It is important that the computer has more than 64 GB of memory... 64 is not enough for most of our Renders.
I would love to know if the specifications I assembled can fit.
There is already a power supply and case, so I don't need it, but I'm debating which cooling is suitable for the processor.
Thanks for any help

Addlink SSD 1.0TB S95 M.2 2280 NVMe
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X AM5 Box
Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070Ti GV-N407TGAMING
Corsair DDR 5 192G (48Gx4) 5200 CL38 Vengeance RGB

Thank you. I went to the store today and they showed me that on the oled screen on the motherboard  it's says " bios update successfully  " but the board itself is just like a brick and nothing else seem to work.  They will send it to a laboratory with special equipment and I hope they will manage to restore it. If I will get info on what was the cause I gonna update... maybe it can help someone In the future 🤔

Hi guys sry for my English. I have a problem.  I work from home with my 3970x and asus xtr40 gaming-e mb, 64 gig ram. Recently 64 ram was a limiting factor so the company that I work for paid for an upgrade to 128 ram. I went to the computer shop to get the ram and the computer shop seller upgraded the bios before installing the 128 kit and than he tells me oops the bios flashing faild the mb stuck at the post screen... sry your therdripper system is from 2019 we don't have a replacement right now. I don't know what to do I am in the middle of a lot of projects.
Dose the 7950x3d with ddr5 can compete against my old 3970x in terms of render speed?
Maybe I can ask the company to buy me a replacement if it's a good enough and the price is right.
I would ask for a new xtr40 mb but I can't seem to find a place that sells them and I only see three ripper pro but it's too expensive... so weird I thought that from 2019 there will be a lot more options for multithreded cpu

Hardware / Suitable CPU to pair with 2X 2080TI built
« on: 2019-02-15, 18:25:39 »
Hello friends. After some animation render tests we did on our files in 3dsmax me and my partner decided we’d better go with a workstation computer based two video cards like the 2080TI in nvlink and not to buy and render on a processor-based computer like the 2990WX.
Every test i render with my 1080TI was away away faster then to render the same scenes with my 5820K @ 4100Mhz, so i think i go the GPU based render workstation system.
That’s the spec I’ve been thinking about

GA-X399-AORUS-XTREME - Gigabyte
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2 2950X / 2920x
64GB (4x16GB) 3200MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM XMP HyperX Predator RGB
Enthoo Evolv X Glass or dark base 900 REV2
1200W HX PSU CORSAIR
NVMe ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB
2X GeForce RTX2080Ti XLR8 OC Triple Fan
AORUS NVLINK™ BRIDGE 4-Slot
Phanteks Halos LUX 140mm RGB LED fan Frame
NH-U14S-TR4-SP3 - Noctua

but my dilemmas are do I need a 16-core processor if in most cases I’m an going to render on a GPU based engine like VRAY NEXT GPU? ( I am learning corona for personal use so only 20 percent of the time i will use CPU based rendering on this computer ).
Or is it better to purchase a cheaper 12 or 8 cores TR processor or maybe go on Intel with fewer cores fewer PCI-E lanes but a higher clock speed and cheaper too?
In regard with the RAM so far in all the scenes I did not have a message that I ran out of memory with 32GB memory so will 64GB improve my performance in the system overall or unused memory just sits there and do nothing performance wise? RAM prices are very high at the moment.
should i go for the evolv x? or with 2 2080Ti the full tower darkbase 900 the cards will have more space?
thank you!

Hardware / Re: What memory sould i get for 2990WX?
« on: 2019-01-30, 19:03:23 »
Thanks guys so i gonna go for the cheapest 3200Mhz 64gb i can find... i understand from you that getting the Samsung chip gskill isn't worth paying double.
do you think the corsair COOLING gonna be bad? i can get the enermax but i see bad reviews at amazon and neweeg  saying this units leaks after a couple of months
if i go air cool i am afraid that all those big air cooling like the warith ripper gonna block my PCI-E and i want to put my 3 1080 TI in this system because i with render GPU 50% of the jobs

Hardware / What memory sould i get for 2990WX?
« on: 2019-01-30, 13:00:41 »
hey guys,
I am currently in the process of building a 3dsmax work station computer.
the parts I am planning to buy are:

CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2 2990WX
MB: GA-X399-AORUS-XTREME - Gigabyte
Memory: F4-3200C15D-32GTZR - G-Skill OR HyperX Predator 3200 Mhz cl 16 RGB - HX432C16PB3AK4/64 ( much cheaper )
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X
PSU: Corsair 1200W HXi
Cooling: Corsair H115i Platinum RGB
Nvme: ADATA 1TB SSD 3500/3000MB/s XPG SX8200 Pro
HD: Toshiba 4TB 7200 RPM X300 Series
Graphic cards  i am buying 3 used 1080TI SLI from someone that selling is mining farm computer parts cheap.

what do you guys think?
any bad experience with any of these?

I'm having issues with choosing the memory. For the memory the G-skill Kit are not listed in the MB QVL list but i think that they are Samsung B-Die that are recommended by alot of people for AMD systems and i want to be able to get decent speed for the ram.
I looked at this site to get information about the  F4-3200C15D-32GTZR kit to see if it is really B-die and it seems that yes they are. https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/

the other alternative also not in the QVL list is HyperX Predator 3200 Mhz cl 16 RGB - HX432C16PB3AK4/64
but its much cheaper then the g.skill... 400$ for the hyper-x  and 800$ for the g.skill

Please let me know your opinion regarding these parts. would you choose differently? if so, why?
thank you all.
