Just recently had all my nodes crashing (using Pulze render manager, scene manager, max 2022 and latest DB of Corona 8.)  Tracked down the crash to a render element with an asterisk * in it.  It was created because lightmix auto setup (which we often quickly use for Draft 1 images) grabbed a layer name that had a light material assigned to it which the architect had named with a '*' in the title.

Couple of hours later and we solved it.  But might be worth blocking Lightmix setup wizard from using any characters that'll cause this kind of crash.

Thanks!
Daniel

Thanks a lot for reporting this. It sounds like a serious and fixable issue so we will see what exactly we can do about it.

On a second thought, I am not sure if it makes sense for LightMix to detect illegal characters.
LightMix render elements are named after each object. If an object name includes some illegal character, a render element with this name will be created.
At the same time, the user can always rename a render element to include illegal characters, so this is not specifically a LightMix issue.

When this happens, 3ds Max should show a warning (attached) and this warning should be included in the log files.

I will log this as a more general issue (not only related to LightMix).
