C4D crashes when I render a scene with corona sun

I am using C4D R25.010 with Corona Renderer 7 (hotfix 2) on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. Whenever I try to render a scene with corona sun, C4D crashes with a message "The plugin CoronaCore has crashed.
More information can be found in /Library/Preferences/Maxon/Maxon Cinema 4D R25_EBA43BEE/_bugreports/_BugReport.txt." I tried to find the bug report but there is no Maxon folder under /library/preferences/ so I cannot attach a bug report file sadly.

I reinstalled C4D (had R23 previously with the same problem) and Corona but It didn't work. I also followed the steps in https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000015667 which didn't help.

The steps I take to render:

1. open an empty C4D project
2. add a plane and a cube
3. add random materials to the objects
4. add corona sun
5. change renderer to Corona
6. click on render to picture viewer
7. C4D crashes with the message mentioned above

As long as  I don't use corona sun, It works fine.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hello,

which folder did you delete when following the steps in the link attached? Those paths are for windows, and for Mac there are actually two Application Support folders, which can be easily interchanged.

The correct path for the "hard license reset" is Users/~/Library/Application Support/Corona/
(~ stands for your mac user name).
Note that if you have hidden files hidden, you might need to press SHIFT+CMD+. (dot) prior to this.

Afterwards, delete the contents of this folder (you don't have to delete MaterialLibrary folder)

Please, let me know if that helps.

Thanks,
Jan

Hi Jan,

I am sure that when I linked that solution there were steps for mac users too. (I don't know what happened, they probably updated it.) I deleted the contents of the folder you mentioned couple of times. After deleting the contents, Corona Plugin wanted me to activate my license again so I guess I deleted the right files?

Meantime I also uninstalled Corona completely by following this https://help.c4d.corona-renderer.com/support/solutions/articles/5000566980-how-to-remove-an-old-corona-renderer-version-before-installing-a-new-one- and then installed the V8 daily build but I still have the problem. Does this mean that I have a problem with C4D and not Corona?

I also found the bug report, which is attached below.

Yes, this is expected behavior.

In that case, I will report this internally for our developers to look into.

Thanks,
Jan
