Good morning,
I'm experiencing this issue while using a plane with a light material applied to use as background image. As you can see from the images attached when the reflection of the sun, or the hdri aswell, is in corrispondence of the plan reflection it is converted into a shadow. I don't know if it is a known bug or if there is a solution.

I know this is an old topic, but I wonder if this bug has been fixed or it is still unresolved.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Re: Corona Proxy and slow viewport
« on: 2022-05-03, 00:52:44 »
Does the same happen if another renderer is enabled and this only happens when a proxy is added to the scene?

It happens even if another engine is enabled and only if i load an empty proxy, with a proxy downloaded from chaos cosmos or other proxy connected to some object the viewport works properly.

There is no solution? I've tried on another pc and the problem is the same, even if the folder is on the same local disk, the more the folder contains many files, the slower the viewport.

The first path is a folder on local drive, not the same where c4d is installed but it is an ssd dedicated as a texture archive. If i turn on only this path the viewport is slow anyway.
I don't know how to solve this problem.

[C4D] Bug Reporting / Corona Proxy and slow viewport
« on: 2022-04-24, 18:35:30 »
Hi,
I'm using corona 9 daily build, I've noted that if i load a corona proxy (empty) the viewport drastically slows down, if I turn off, in c4d settings, all the file assets path the viewport back to moving smoothly. This happens in an empty scene.
I'm using c4d R23, I also downloaded the trial of c4d s26 to check if it depends on c4d but the problem is the same.
I've done a video to show the problem.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Extremely Slow render times
« on: 2022-01-12, 18:28:38 »
With render farms being so cheap,a year or two ago I stopped rendering stuff at home.
Anything that takes longer than 30min I simply send to Rebus and continue working on other stuff.
Even if you have a threadripper at home, it cant match 5, 10 or 20 threadrippers rendering at the same time.
Do you pay for every test render with Rebus? Or is a sort of subscription?

First question: yes, use mograph and multi instance for the same objects
Second one: nope, texture mapping should not influence render time

you are comparing real time rendering with gpu based render engine, like octane and arnold, with corona that is cpu...

Hi all,

i'm using Cinema 4d r21 and Corona 7.
Hardware: AMD 2990WX 32 core, 128gb of ram and RTX 3090

I have a scene with about 25mln polygons and i'm trying to use interactive render with some part of vegetation scatter on (using Surfacespread) but if i try to move inside the scene is VERY slow.
If Corona only use the CPU while rendering, why with one of the best video card out there i can't move inside the scene without problem?

Unfortunately i already know that 4d cinema viewport is terrible compared to 3d max where with the same card I can move scenes with triple the weight.
But I wanted to understand why this happens.

Thank you so much in advance

Alberto

The speed inside c4d viewport depends on the speed in single core of your cpu, especially if you use modifier like "shader effector" it isn't multithred. Paradoxically if you had a processor with fewer cores but higher frequencies per core, you would have a smoother experience inside the viewport

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Fog tutorials?
« on: 2021-11-02, 17:23:56 »
I know how to use regular atmospheric fog and god rays in Corona, but where can I find tips on more complex setups? Specifically, I need ground fog and fog broken up by a noise shader. Any suggestions?

I think this can help you.

Hi all!
This is my last work, a disused building of the 70s, recovered and transformed into a residential building.
Hope you like it!

Wow excellent work! A truly convincing photorealism, well done!
May I ask you if the white plaster of the building is a commercial texture like megascan, poliigon, etc...or if you have created your own texture? The grain and the displacement are perfect, if it doesn't bother I would like to know the set up of that material.
Great job!
