Ah, how interesting. Who knew!
(Although in my case the buffer area/extra padding was for Render Selected rather than Render region, where you could just make the region a bit bigger anyway.

Use render selected. just drag in the geo for that part.

On a slight tangent I do wish that it was possible to use render selected with some padding, as on areas with stronger DoF it wouls avoid dark fringing.

In your photoshop file go to Edit>convert to profile>sRGB. Is the banding still there?

The questions isnt about ''smooth shading' in that sense. The OP is talking about banding in his render.

What is the colour space that you are outputting to? And how are you getting it into PS? For "proper'' compositing it should ideally be 32bit linear AFAIK.

Corona 10 has some strange results time-wise. Often it's extremely fast - and then minutes later, much slower.

I just rendered a glass of coffee (set to complete at a noise limit). It finished in 41 seconds.
I then made a small tweak to the mesh and added a couple of percent to a colour value. Then the scene finished in 4 minutes 15 seconds.

It's certainly got me scratching my head!

As mentioned above, Phong angle is the way to solve this. try different (lower) angles until the artifacts go away

I feel that the Corona Bitmap node needs an urgent update in general. There are several threads on this forum noting its various shortcomings.

Try and copy real life is always a good suggestion. Is the label a separate object or is it a poly selection of the main glass?
If so you're mixing the refraction on the glass depth. It should be a separate label on top.

Use the split command to make a new poly object and apply your label to that instead

I'm probably not adding much here  - but for what it's worth it rendered at 7:52 on my M2 MPB/Ventura/64gb (with a couple of other apps running too).  I'm not sure why the ultra speed is so slow in comparison.

Renders in 5:02 on my old threadripper, which has a worse cinebench score than the MBP on paper - but better performance IRL.

The scene does contaiin all legacy materials, plus native c4d compositing tags, which may or may not have some sort of effect. (I dont see why it should TBH).
