i think this is as maxons default cube is set to 200cm and they made 100% to fit that cube.

so to have 100cm you need 50% UV lenght scale. not super logic but maxon made it that way;)

is it possible to make a kind of hotfix for that problem for the daily?

this bug makes it impossible to use and test in work at all sadly

we use it the way that 50% scale is exact the size you set in the coordinates of the texture tag, this works for cubic flat etc best.
(in freely cre3ated UV's there is no way to guess the size sadly, there you need to measure)

so if you have 100cm in the texture tag coordinates for x,y,z, and 50% UV scale setting(length U and V), then your texture is exact 100x100xcm in size.

if you set UV length scale to 100% the texture is 200cm in size,
if you set it to 200% the texture is 400x400cm,
and so on.

this works pretty well overall for all non UV mappings at least

are the Listers feature as 3dsmax corona has it still planned for v10 ?

i had and used fryrender, and to be fair there should be some more info to this marketing video of fry:

1) this was a paid addon not part of the normal engine (i think200- 300 extra)
2) you needed to prerender a bigger number of passes, which was very time consuming.

so even if the video looks cool, this was never be usable in production due the huge prepare and setup time.

overall i think Corona does pretty well. if course i hope it get connected to the other chaos products better(like Vantage, chaos cloud, enscape conversions)

well i am a user too, i am not part of corona or chaos:)

the tone mapping i think can in  deed affect the shadow parts of an image, it is worth testing both in the same setting(so c4d tonemappng off), best exported both as 323bit exr without any tone mapping applied.

for speed: as said i think it is mainly the differences in the host apps - but i rather have c4d while i continue to work on the scene., c4d has lower thread priority which is a good thing overall(more balanced).
if there really is a code issue of course that affects the differences i hope the corona team can improve this.

well with 16gb youz really might not have much extra space for textures etc, once a computer starts to swap, it does very different things ram management wise (ram gb isnt same as just putting same gb on disc)

One thing to mention from color: have you set the corona preferences to NOT use the c4d color management? if you have the default on corona c4d uses the c4d management whi9ch is slightly different, try turning that off to get more similar results as in max.

overall c4d has a different scene and material handling, the 3 min arent 25% slower as you said in first post, but yes a tiny bit, which might come due host app differences i think (render scene export, and the way materials and shader work, are quite different in c4d compared to max and probably a tiny bit slower).

in max you cannot do anything in the app while work, in c4d we can fully work even on the same scene, while rendering. this alone costs a tiny bit of speed due different cpu  threading. i rather prefer the c4d way in that case, even if that has a slight render time cost.

for the ram, many 8k textures in many material channels do use some ram, you can try using the textures in 4k and only in close ups 8k, with 128 gig it should be no problem. (my have 96gb, works also fine)

i would reduce displacement height a bit, for the model size, (and maybe set to linear color profile if you havent yet) :)
otherwise looks great!

yes, we put a lot of passion and work in this materials, they are made for our use use also, i use them myself every day in my projects.
next coming surfaces are plaster, stone walls and floors and terrazzo floors.

we also take surface wishes in case, if we find a matching source we can make them

we also have same, project info /texture is the only reliable way to check if textures are all there or not.

sadly the maxon asset manager has issues seeing all textures from corona and also vray materials. not sure if that is also for other engines.
not sure if corona can do some about it, if yes would be great.

my feel is that the asset manager still is buggy with 3rd party mats (it certainly was in past)
