Hi Team Corona!

Just curious, at the moment if i want to have visible light cones on stage lights I have to create a cone and add volumetrics. Will there be a Corona light that does this automatically and renders faster in the future? Would be amazing if possible :-)

Hi Forum,

Happy Friday! Thought I'd post here about TGS brilliant Texture Manager 2, a totally amazing texture manager for all your PBR materials. It creates all the channels (diffusion, normal, displacement, etc) in one simple click. I have the whole CGAxis library and to create a lib manually would take month! Takes a bit of time to render the previews but very good as a central hub for all your textures. Well worth 49 euros! For Corona I did find you have to remove the reflection search strings to get the right previews.

Hi Team Corona,

Hope you have had a good week all :-). I'm working on a big architectural job and wanted to create some initial b/w floor plan sketches/drawings. I love the wire shader but would love to be able to use something similar to toon render creating brush/pencil drawings. I tried using the toon C4D with native but soooooooooooooooooooooo slow it hurts. Would love to have something similar with Corona. Have a good weekend all :-) John

Hi Rafaz,

Looking at your ram (16GB). Could this be a problem? I had a Macbook Pro 2012 with 16MB, could not achieve anything. Only my own experience, but anything less than 32MB is a no, no. My laptop has 64MB and can handle most scenes unless totally insane. I did get frustrated at Apples non-comital attitude so switched to PC. A better option if you ask me for any 3D work. Hope you get it sorted though. John

Hi,

Is your displacement high-res, 16or 32bit? Also increase your displacement setting in settings (screen size from 2 to 1). Should help :-)

Hi Ian,

I work as a freelance 3D designer and bought a Gigabyte Aero 17 maxed out with 64GB ram, Intel Core i9 10th Gen and Nvidia RTX2080 Studio. I bought this just before lock-down because I thought I'd be working on site but not been in a studio since then. I paid £4.800 for it then and did a test on a insane project. Team rendered on my i7 27" iMac with 32GB and my Macbook Pro with 16GB, took 5.5h and then on my PC Laptop... 26min. To be honest, I wish I'd spent that money on a desktop... would have got a BEAST! Yes, Ian, Threadrippers seem to be the way forward, quite a few friends of mine have them. How much are you thinking of spending? I could ask some advice for you. Anyway, hope this has been helpful and feel free to contact me if you have any more questions, have a good evening :-) John

Just thought I'd mention that OSX is a totally locked down OS and does not allow 'Us the users' to do as we please, only how Apple wants. I switched over to Windows 11 Pro and do not look back. Much more stable and have very few problems. Not to mention speed. Personally I think PCs are leaps ahead of Macs in performance. Just saying :-)

Have had the same problem but thought it was something I'd set up wrong. Great to hear it's being fixed :-)

Might be your phong angle? I usually set it to 21 degrees to make surfaces flat.

Hi, I work on a 64mb Aero17 laptop and same, render out hard core archviz scenes and I have never had memory problems. I as well use mograph and never had any problems, even when sending large projects to render farms. Stacking materials is no problem and you have layered material as well and not forgetting the super fun decal to ticker up whatever you want. I used to use VRay befor but was sooooo bloody touchy about materials and lots of crashes. I find Corona incredibly stable and fast. Give it a go :-) John
