[C4D] Feature Requests / License management
« on: 2023-10-30, 15:30:07 »
Could you possibly add standard functionalities to your license management like "release license"?
We got a lot of C4D licenses and use different renderers for different jobs.
We don't have as many Corona licenses as we got Cinema 4D licenses.

Corona licenses work like "first come, first served". The first one, who opens up Cinema 4D in the morning, get's the license. No matter if corona is used or not. The license is blocked.

If someone else wants to use a corona license, he has to ask the former one to close his Cinema 4D (nothing else works reliable, not even logging out of the licensing server), then open his own Cinema 4D, to get the license. This is very impractiable, as two guys need to sort of licensing and none of them can work in the meantime on any job, either.

Octane f.e. activates a license, as soon as you start working with it, not any time earlier.
Insydium Fused acts similiar to Corona, but allows to release a license in C4D. That's ok, too.

PS: I don't consider answers like "purchase more licenses" as a solution.

[C4D] I need help! / Deactivate License?
« on: 2023-04-03, 08:31:33 »
Very simple: How can I deactivate a license on a PC, without closing Cinema4D?
F.e. there is one machine rendering several jobs with Octane, but it's occupying a Corona License. How can I deactive this license, while not disrupting the rendering process?

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Motion Blur & Instances
« on: 2022-12-06, 19:38:56 »
Hey there, still (or again?) got this Motion Blur Bug. I guess it comes with Instances, but not sure about this. I could go through the hassle of testing it thoroughly, but this bug exists since the introduction of Motion Blur to Corona. So you propably know it very well. Just a little reminder.

[C4D] General Discussion / Normal Maps in V8 RC5
« on: 2022-05-06, 07:57:58 »
Maybe I missed a memo, but over here, Normal Maps behave very "different" to what they used to. I needed to render an old project, and everything came out a bit weird. See screenshot attached. Am I the only one with this problem? Couldn't find helpful topics with the search.

Hi there,
maybe I'm the only one wondering why the Corona UI drifted towards endles long, unnecessary rows of adjustable stuff. I mean, I like settings. But why having a checkbox for every tone mapping parameter? Why stack all settings upon another? There are lot's of cool ways to organize your stuff, so not to scroll like crazy till you can adjust f.e. the dof settings. Sorry for doing two quick'n dirty examples of how this could look like.

Same with the "physical" material: Why put Base and reflection parameters AND bump (?) mapping in a base layer, but complex ior & base tail in advanced. I know, it is "advanced" (wow), but following logic, it's in the wrong place. Maybe it seems wrong, to seperate base (diffuse/albedo) from the reflection layer, but on the other hand: maybe it's not a good idea to put dielectric and conductive shaders in one cluttered interface, either.

Soo, this is just food for thoughts. If someone explains to me why all this scrooling and seeming unlogic interface is a really good idea, i'll happy to read about it :-)

Hi there,
maybe I missed something, but ...

When using a shadow catcher, transparent materials get a solid alpha.

Shouldn't they still be transparent, and consider the shadow catcher? Especially when Alpha mode of the shadow catcher material is set on "for compositing". For me, it seems a bit useless for compositing, when transparent materials have a solid alpha. But as I said, maybe I missed something.

[C4D] I need help! / Motion Blur Issue - Geometry freaks out
« on: 2020-05-13, 12:42:12 »
Hi there,
I got a strange issue with the motion blur. When activating it, some of the geometry just freaks out. Attached two images.
Running CRN V5hotfix2 on Win 10.
Cheers

[C4D] General Discussion / Video projection
« on: 2019-02-01, 07:27:23 »
Hi there!
Recently I tried some Video projection style scene. Normally you would use a spotlight and apply a texture to it. As this is not possible in Corona, as far as I know, I tried different solutions.

Frist one: Light Material with 100% Directionality. This actually doesn't work very well. The resulting image is extremely blurred. You can size up the Light Material Plane to sharpen the image. But there are limits to this approach, when doing interior stuff.

Second approach: Plane with a Texture in the Refraction channel. And a light source behind it. Works like a real world projector, but the light source must be very small, to get a sharp result. This results in ridiculous light like 999999 and Exposure up to +20. That's ruining every scenes light balance.

I couldn't figure out another, practial solution. So maybe someone over here got an idea?

PS: Attached you can find a sample image. Left hand-made projector, right side plane with Light Material.

Rendering HiRes Images (DIN A0 300dpi f.e.) brings Corona to a crawl. Sometimes it never really starts. On a machine with 16 GB, HiRes Images don't really start at all. Same scene on a 32 GB system sometimes does the job. Having 64 GB makes rendering of complex scenes (millions of polygons, complex materials & light situations, etc.) possible, but it takes hours/days.
