[C4D] Daily Builds / OCIO and ACES workflows
« on: 2023-11-22, 18:41:55 »
I'm interested in implementing OCIO and/or ACES color workflow(s) in my work.

Up to now I had mainly used the linear output when rendering and converted the results into one of the standard RGB profiles, when rendering animations.
I wonder what an exemplary workflow would look like using C4D and Corona.

I mainly use Aftereffects (for motion graphics) and PS (for stills) on Win & Mac.

Are there already any experiences someone would/could share?

Corona Academy / Re: Cannot access the videos

Support helped me.
I don't know why, but (on a Mac) Command + Clicking on the video thumbnails made id work. on a Windows machine it should be Control + Click.
One fix was also: clicking on the video thumbnail an then get back to the page you came from and clicking again.

Maybe you can try that if you have problems.

Corona Academy / Cannot access the videos

Hi,

I'm happy to hear that you finally bring the Corona Academy.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. When I follow the link I have to sign into my Chaos Account. After doing so, I reach the overview page where I chose the C4D-part. After that I can see the different video links for chapter 1. But when I click one i'm brought to Vimeo an get the message that the video is not available / I'm not allowed to access the video.

I have attched a Screenshot (in German language).

I tried it on Frefox and on Chrome on a Mac (OS 12.7.1)

OK. Thanks.

I have just updated my NVIDIA-drivers (though I did that last week). And re-installed Corona and made sure no other software was running.

Now that worked and no errors were shown!

Hey,

I have just downloaded and installed (update existing installation) the final release of Corona 10 and get the following error on installation:

Removing previous installation of NVIDIA AI Denoiser... Failed to delete file C:\Program Files\Corona\optix\cudart64_110.dll
Operation result: failed
Installing NVIDIA AI Denoiser... Failed to install file C:\Program Files\Corona\optix\cudart64_110.dll: Cannot open/read/write file "C:\Program Files\Corona\optix\cudart64_110.dll"
Operation result: failed

When I look into the specified directory I can see this file.
The rendering works, I haven't yet encountered any problems.

I'm running Cinema 4D 2023.2.1 on a Windows 10 machine, NVIDIA RTX A6000

Hey,

I don't know if this ois related to the daily build, but now I have the following problem using the Cosmos Browser:

When I import any of the Sky-HDRIs (Day and Evening), I semm not to get the right maps. Even when I open the downloaded EXR-file in Photoshop (import via EXR-Io Plugin in 32 bit linear workflow) it doesn't look as expected. I have attached screenshots: one of the attributes-pane in C4D and one of the look of the file in Photoshop. This one is the imported HDRI "Day 024".

This happens no matter if in Windows 10 or in MacOS 12.6.6 (Cinema 4D 2023.2)

Yes. Great!

Thanks!

thanks Corona team for the new RC build and the resizing option (ON/OFF)! :D

Am I missing something? I don't see any On/Off option. Where do I find it?
I have just installed the latest release (RC2). Or has this option been removed in RC2?

Yes. I guess so.

Thanks. I will take a look!

Okay. I tried different settings for the displacement quality.
When setting to 3 the model renders even in 5000 x 5000 px.

But when I set it to 1px I get the following error shown:
"Unable to process displacement of the objects(s) Extrudieren.1 due to extreme number of generated vertices."

I don't remeber having seen this error with the prior setting of 2 px, when I tried to render before…

Hi,

I just found the uploader. I have uploaded the scene file to you.

Thanks for checking.

It's both final render. I just stopped rendering after seeing what it rendered.
The filter shape is geometry. The displacment concerns only the surface of the filter.
Sure I can share the scene file with you. But I cannot do it on a public download. Is it possible to share it through a PN or something?

Thanks for your response.

I will try tweaking the displacement value. I will only be able to do so later as I'm rendering a differnet model on that machine and that is going to take some more hours.

I will let you know if that helped.

Hello,

I encounter the following problem. I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss. Fact is that I'm using the lates Daily Build (RC1) on Cinema 4D 2023.2.1:

I have a not too complex model of a filter tissue. I have a corona layered material on it (consisting of 2 ohysical materials of which one uses displacement).
The displacement isn't too complex but when I hit render it takes about 10-20 minutes to calculate the displacement.
Now I need to render an output of 5000 x 5000 px. When I do that after calulating the displacement insteda of rendering the whole model, only the two caps are rendered. I show that on the two attached screenshots. Only when I lower the output resolution (I went up to 4800 x 4800 px)the whole thing is rendered right.

Now I'm not sure if this is connected to my system. The specs are:
Win 10 Pro, 64 Bit
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X 64-Core, 2,9 GHz
256 GB RAM
NVIDIA RTX A6000

I Would be thankful if you could give me a hint.

Regards

Börje
