I discovered this some months ago.

This is the only good quality displacements that I found but apparently they are not producing the desired effects so I have not tried them yet.

Thank you all for your replies :)
I have been trying lots of things recently so I think I will end up contacting the Chaos Support I believe.

[Max] I need help! / Pool water effects
« on: 2023-05-09, 09:02:35 »
Hello all,

I have been using Phoenix FD Ocean texture plugged on a CoronaDisplacementMod to achieve nice water caustics, not as good as the ones in the recent spaces post about caustics but a pretty good ones :>

I would like to try achieving different things such as the effect of an underwater jets like the picture attached. Any clue about how to make it? I guess it would be a displacement map but I am a little bit lost about it. I guess ripple modifier is not an option because of its perfection, nor simulating the pool water with Chaos Phoenix.

Thanks!

[Max] I need help! / corona proxies performance
« on: 2021-11-10, 15:33:17 »
Hello All,

I am dealing with an animation project where I have lots of furniture and animated vegetation.

In order to avoid long parsing times and to get the best performance, is it better to convert all the heavy furniture to proxy?

As seen in other topics of this forum, unticking the "enable animation" and "keep loaded in Ram" improve the performance but I am not sure if having lots of proxies can ruin the Ram performance, hence the parsing and rendering times would be longer aswell.

Still using Corona 6.2 with 3dsmax 2020 because this project was started in this version and tried the version 7.0 and got many materials destroyed with the new features, so I had to downgrade.

Thanks.

Nice stucco material.
Did you use HDRI lighting? or CSun.
Thanks!

Nice lighting and composition. You have made a great job on that caustics, would you mind tell us a little bit more about those caustics? They look sick! :)

What do you mean by saying that you get caustics in VFB, but no caustics in render? Do you mean when you save the picture, it comes different from what you see in VFB?

Interactive rendering, sorry, edited already.

Hi everyone,

For some reason I get cool caustics in the interactive rendering but when I render the scene I can barely see any caustic coming from my pool.

I am using corona 4, caustics solver, and path tracing as a secondary solver. Water material has caustics enabled.

The water is a turbosmoothed plane + displacement mod with the native 3dsmax noise.

Thanks

can u post visuals and settings?

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I cannot post visuals due to copyrights but settings are as follows: HDRI output 32 (simple as that)
EV:-1.70
HC: 5
6500K
Filmic highlights: 1
Filmic shadows: 0

Lights Watts are correct since night scenes are very nice and works very well with another 3DCollective night HDRI. (I set the watts following light manufacturers info)

If HDRI represents lights condition that is not supposed to vastly overpower specific artificial lighting, yet it does, then either your artificial lights are set to incorrect strength, or statement that this HDRI input should be set at 32 multiplier, is incorrect.

Thank you for your reply, much appreciated.
